Core Martial Arts Academy is located in Newton N.C. We are dedicated to the teaching of self-defense and acute martial arts skills in a Christian and family atmosphere. Teashikido Karate, the style taught at CMAA, was formally established in 2005 by Soke Paul Langford as an eclectic style rooted in the traditions of Chang-mu-kwan do, Shotokan, Aikido, and Isshin-Ryu.

Core Martial Arts Academy instructors strive to offer balanced martial arts training through a full range art that focuses upon practical self-defense, kata, bunkai, kumite, grappling, flexibility, agility, and spiritual fortitude.
Services
These kanji were provided to Soke Langford by Shiho Kamei of Gifu, Japan. This designation highlights our conviction that hand technique and foot movement work together and in harmony with energy (ki) for self-defense and/or prompt and effective disarmament. Through training, hand technique compliments foot movement, which in turn should foster properly balanced ki.
The earliest history that we have shows that In Yun Pyung/Byung taught Chang Mu Kwan at a YMCA in Seoul Korea in 1946. Later Sensei Pyung/Byung was killed in the Korean War. Nam Suk Lee assumed control after the war in 1953. For some time Chang Moo Kwan was the leading self defense method in Korea.
Shihan Randall started taking martial arts at the age of 13 under Soke Langford. Soke's influence lead him into joining with Sensei Beal in 1984. He left in the early 90's for personal reasons but still continued training with Soke Langford. In 2004 he rejoined N.M.A. to finish his training and to become one of our Black Belt instructors.
After moving from coast to coast and settling in North Carolina, George began working with Sensei Randy Hoosier who invited him to check out Core Martial Arts. From the time I walked in and met the other senseis I knew I was at home and this was where I wanted to train. Not just the fellowship, but the style, techniques, ippons, power and fun had me right at home here.

My son is a student here and we just love them! What a difference it has made in our lives. Our son has become more confident in his abilities to defend himself as well as learning to respect the art. The staff is amazing and are always supportive to the students. Each of them are willing to go above and beyond to help during class time or even if its something that they may be able to help with on a more personal level. Many thanks and blessings to them.

I began taking martial arts here in July 2013 at the age of 38. Having never set foot in a dojo before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was mainly interested in pursuing it because my youngest daughter wanted to try it and I didn't want her to feel like she was doing it all on her own. I must say that I have been extremely impressed and do not feel intimidated at all. There are other older adults in the class as well that are higher and lower ranked than myself. Do not let age be a deterrent from pursuing martial arts. We are all like family...whether an adult, teenage, or kid - we are all equal

I have been taking martial arts here for over a year now and i love it, we are like a huge family and respect each other. when theres a personal problem and you need to talk about it they Senseis and Soke gives great advice on how to deal with it. the thing i love about CMAA is the fact that they make you work for your belts instead of handing them out. but over all this is THE place to take Martial Arts.

My children have taken martial arts ever since they were 6 and 8 years old from these instructors. Both have obtained their black belts and enjoy their time there. The instructors dedicate their time to teach students and to help them achieve their goal
to become a black belt. This school is very affordable and family oriented. I would highly recommend this martial arts school.
