I'll be your dance instructor. I began formal dance instruction as a young child and have studied several genres of dance with some of Houston's finest dancing legends. After years of training and teaching as a social ballroom dance instructor, I began teaching independently as The Dance Whisperer in Houston in 2008.
Thank you for the well wishes on our wedding and first dance. The day was better than we could have imagined. Joel and I were able to keep our first dance a secret and everyone was blown away. We practiced for 45 minutes in the venue a few days before which really helped. We had a few mistakes, BUT no one knew!
How much do wedding dance lessons cost? Not as much as you might think! The Introductory Special is $340, which breaks down to $68 per session-an exceptional deal for five exclusively private wedding dance lessons! You can buy more than five dance lessons initially if needed. The more wedding dance lessons bought prepaid, the lower the rate per lesson.
The Dance Whisperer specializes in customized wedding dances for bride and groom, which include choreography and dance instruction in ballroom, country, salsa, tango, and swing dancing. Rebecca was great. My fiancee and I got the wedding dance package in preparation for our wedding.
With the very first lesson we left extremely impressed with the goal-oriented manner in which she choreographed and instructed us, a couple with minimal ballroom dancing experience.She began with a brief introduction of the basic steps and we quickly chose a combination of cha cha and tango for our dance.

All group dance classes are private and self-organized, i.e., you decide when your weekly dance classes will meet, who the members will be, and which dance styles eveyone will want to learn. All dance classes are 45 minutes each, available by appointment, and can include from two to four couples. The cost for one dance class is $60 per couple.

We recently got married and used Rebecca the Dance Whisperer to teach us our first dance at our wedding. She was fantastic! She looked at our capabilities as a couple and came up with a lovely coordinated dance that we both could learn easily but that looked great. She was professional and diligent in making sure we got it exactly right... close enough is not good enough! Rebecca was awesome and really helped my (now) wife and I learn how to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. Believe me, this is an achievement worth noting as my dance skills at start of the lesson were very minimal at best. She was patient with us and kind and very helpful. Y'all. If you think you can't dance and want the best first dance anyone has ever seen GET YOURSELF TO REBECCA. She's very patient and teaches iteratively, adding as you master. Not once did my new husband or I feel overwhelmed. You should have heard my new mother in law shout in excitement and surprise as she watched her serious son twirl me on the dance floor! Seriously, our first dance was the talk of the wedding. I'd give her 10/5 if I could!

WOW! My boyfriend said for months he would like to take dance lessons and for his birthday I purchased the 5 class dance lesson package and we had an absolute blast. Rebecca was able to work with both of us to improve our skills which were at different levels. After 5 classes, we are able to dance to a few different types of music and even have… gone to show of our moves around town. The 45 minute classes FLY by with Rebecca and we always left feeling really great and ready for the next weeks class. Rebecca was absolutely fantastic - when life slows down (ha!) we want to continue to take lessons from her! She is patient, breaks things down, covers all the bases (even how to enter and leave the dance floor!) and we learned moves we have been able to translate to other dances. Most importantly, she really taught us to connect on the dance floor and we both find dancing SO much more fun now. She teaches more than just a choreographed dance (which was beautiful, by the way) but also how to communicate on the dance floor.

When we first pulled up to Rebecca's studio I was really concerned and we almost bolted, but I am so glad we didn't. She very clearly knows what she is doing and is able to work well with all skill levels. Rebecca was able to choreograph something sweet and simple for us in just a few lessons and it was completely worth the money! My fiancé even had a good time and he was not looking forward to taking dance lessons. She worked with us on basic as and added in some fun stuff based on what we were enjoying and our skill level.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rebecca. I'm getting married on Thursday and it was it was important to me for my FH and I to have a decent first dance. I didn't need anything spectacular... just not "8th grade leave room for Jesus sway", ya know? I've always danced (informally) but FH isn't much for cuttin rug. Rebecca changed ALL that! He's still nervous about dancing but I can say, without a doubt, our first dance will be memorable and beautiful because of her. She was patient and understanding and extremely helpful. My husband and I decided that we needed a hobby together and decided to take dance lessons for fun. We go once a week and it's something that both of us look forward to. Rebecca is an amazing instructor! I like that she doesn't make us do the same things over and over again and she teaches us how to listen to the type of music that's playing to determine the dance style. I only wish she choreographed our wedding dance 5 years ago because I'm certain it would have been amazing!

I wanted to do something fun for our first dance. My husband just wanted our dance to be better than his brother's. We accomplished both of those goals with the Dance Whisperer!

My fiancé found the Dance Whisperer online and we couldn't be happier with the results. Personally, I think of myself as a awful dancer who before the this wouldn't even try. We did the 5 class package for our wedding dance and after the first few I was a little worried, but now I am confident we will nail it. Rebecca is very professional and always on time. She never misses appointments and really did a great job tailoring the dance to our abilities. I recommend her for anyone wanting to learn to dance. Great location as well!

From an outsiders POV, Rebecca seems like a great dance instructor. I was a bridesmaid at my recent friends wedding. Her then fiancee couldn't dance to save his life. However, he was able to pull off his "first dance" with my friend quite well. I was rather impressed at the choreographed moves he was able to pull off after dance lessons from rebecca. The bride said her brother found Rebecca via YELP and I have to say she seems like quite a good teacher. Thanks Rebecca for making my friends first dance a success!

I found The Dance Whisperer in hopes of finding someone to help us get ready for our wedding. With less than eight weeks to go, we were able to transform an uncoordinated couple into one that could get on the dance floor without any apprehension and get it done!
We loved the private lesson ability with the location absolutely convenient for us. Rebecca made it so easy for us to take our wedding song and turn it into something presentable for our friends and family.

After taking lessons with the Dance Whisperer, it's obvious why she is the highest rated Houston instructor on Yelp! Rebecca is a fantastic teacher. Her home studio is the perfect environment and made us feel very comfortable right from the start so we could make the most of our lesson time. Really enjoyed the classes with Rebecca! We took 5 for our big day and it was much needed! I'm happy with the results. Our dance was not complicated at all and it helped that she emphasized LISTENING to the beat. lol. That's of course how bad my hubby and I were. We loved the end of our dance as well-- people thought that it looked difficult and were impressed. I can't wait for the wedding video :)

She was great! I have 2 left feet and have never danced before in my life. The steps that she taught my wife and I were broken down and easy to learn. When our big day came and we preformed our 1st dance together, other than the butterflies I had, the dance went smoothly and our guest loved it.

My fiance and I were trying to learn our wedding slow song, and I (the groom) was the ultimate beginner. The instructor was very patient and told us exactly every little detail we needed. The Dance Whisperer is awesome. I had never danced in my life- i literally use to step on peoples feet when i tried so i had to take classes before the big day. My experience was perfect. The stupio was very cozy and the instructor of course was amazing. She worked with my schedule and was able to choregraph our dance is a month! - if you are looking for a dance instructor look no further!!

My wife and I have taken dance lessons off and on over the last ten years. We have had instruction from a Fred Astaire studio as well as individual instructors in private lessons and at the YMCA. Even though we have some experience, Rebecca has been able to refresh and hone our technique as well as teach us new dances and steps. Her instruction style is positive and patient. She reads people very well and knows when to push and when to ease up. We paid for 20 lessons which gave us the best hourly rate and plan on signing up for more when these are completed.
