Village Baker
Located in the heart of Spring Lake, the Village Baker is a purveyor of cozy dining and relaxing fun. Our founders wanted to create an eclectic atmosphere that would bring our community together through delectable dishes and casual dining. Since then, our chefs have been serving both quality interpretations of classic dishes and new ventures into the uncharted territories of food.

The Village Baker's interior, filled with second hand and hip sensibilities, was pieced together by Sara herself and reflects the beautiful and romantic style of our surrounding area. The restaurant offers choices of comforting custom pizzas, perfectly unique bread options, and memorable sandwich combinations.

My wife and I were originally planning on grabbing a bite to eat in grand haven, but everything was surprisingly crowded on a cold January afternoon, I think due to an ice carving event. So, we drove just over the bridge and ended up spotting this place in Spring Lake. It looked at first like maybe it was just a bakery, but the word pizza caught my eye, so we tried it.

We were both so glad we did. Not only do they have a full menu (which includes some amazing looking breakfast items), but they also have a full bar, which surprised me. The food was all amazing and very reasonably priced. My wife

If I could give 6 stars, I would! We were there for breakfast. The coffee choices were fantastic and they can make just about anything. I had two latte's, both different and delicious. The quality of the food can not be beat! I am a huge tomato fan and they use heirloom tomatoes. The lunch and dinner choices look just as good. They have a full bar and a hot sauce bar where you can pick the heat.

Great restaurant! It has a cozy and quirky ambience, and a super friendly waitress. It also has an amazing variety of baked goods and unusual German food. The prices are very fair, the service is decent, and most importantly, the quality of the food is outstanding! Highly recommended!

It's busy. People like it. So here's some hints. The wait list asks for your phone number. Don't give it. If you do they won't call it and then later they will be angry with you for not crowding in the modest waiting area. Next, when they try to upsell the hash browns by adding onions, don't be surprised with a little pile of raw onion slivers on top. That's not how they do it in Idaho or at Waffle House but this is Michigan. Ordering Cajun? Right ingredients no spice no heat. You can add your own Franks but that tastes like Buffalo, not New Orleans.

Their food is always good. Went to October Fest tonight. Sooo much fun. The offerings for food were good. We had Bavarian Pretzels, Ruben sandwiches and spitzes noodles with mushrooms and beef tips. Ice cold draft beer and live music. Fun, fun, fun!
A mess up on our food however, Enrique mad it all good. Kudos to him.

On a warm Friday in August I met up with 3 friends to get brunch before heading to the beach. One of the group had browsed the menu and selected The Village Baker.

We arrived at 10am and headed in to put our name on the list. The person at the register let us know that there would be up to a 45 minute wait, and tried to talk us into sitting outside in the beer garden and ordering takeout. She stated that on Fridays there were only two girls waiting tables. We still put our name in and headed outside to wait.

Since we were celebrating a birthday, we decided against the takeout option and just

My husband and I ate here for the first time yesterday. We ate breakfast and sat at the bar. The menu is quite large and there's a lot to choose from. We had mimosa, bloody mary, tequila sunrise and a cappuccino to drink. All of which were very good. They have a large and different selection of alcohol, including beer. I had the crab cake benedict, which is by far THE best I've ever had! Their hollandaise sauce is different; it's not super fatty and thick tasting. My husband had the shrimp and wild mushroom omelette, which he absolutely loved. The service we received by Miranda and Ariel, the bartenders

Wow! Just WOW! We wanted to order everything on the menu. Decided on a breakfast sandwich and an omelette. The sandwich is on an asiago scone with sausage, egg, and white cheddar - delicious but quite rich to the palette. There is a piece of melon as garnish, but perhaps tart berries would balance better (order some OJ to do the trick). Hash browns were dense like a pattie from McD, in a different stick-to-your-ribs way. The omelette was fluffy and filling. The only negative thing was the toast. It was sadly so dried out it was more like a crouton.
Friendly, attentive service. Charming decor.

The Village Baker is awesome! It's like the Zingerman's of Spring Lake! First thing I noticed was the super dope restrooms with stalls decorated with boss queens (Ava, Chisholm, Madam C.J. Walker). Shout out to Sara, the Bakers wife, for the free handouts. Next was the menu...fresh baked bread, scones, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love me a good binder:) The photos made it easy to choose what you wanted to eat. I had the Pastrami Pretzel with fries which was bangin'. Sounds like the salmon salad was a bit dry but the Texas Spicy pizza was a hit. Came in the next morning for a

I ordered the build your own breakfast platter and I must say, it was the best breakfast I've ever had. Everything on it was top notch. To make it even better, it was backed by top notch service as well. The problem? I live 6 hours away and now I can't enjoy breakfast again until I come back. I always thought I could cook well, but your food is hopelessly better than mine. I have some local breakfast haunts I liked, but now the food will only be an empty reminder of what your food was like. It's like I died, went to heaven, but now I'm forced to leave. You ruined breakfast forever

It's not often that a review of mine earns that coveted 5-star rating. Village Baker did in spades. The key here is balance. The pizza, while not the best I've ever had, for the price absolutely can't be beat. It's crispy with still a little chew, ultra fresh toppings and not over the top. We had spatzle with grilled chicken, herb butter sauce, mushrooms and peas and it was perfect. Someone deserves a ton of credit in the kitchen. So refreshing to see a chef not afraid to season their food. Artfully crafted. We started with pretzels and crab cakes. Both excellent. The beer cheese

We hadn't been to the Village Baker in years, but it will not be long before we go back! Everything is just beautiful, the patio, the eclectic seating, the fun colorful exterior, the drinks and especially the food! Inside is a bakery bar you can purchase all kinds of goodies as well as a cute boutique area. The bathrooms were huge and clean and beautiful. I ordered my first pumpkin chai of the year and it came in a lovely purple mug and tasted amazing. Hubs got some kind of fancy beer and our son got a kiddie cocktail. For food we ordered a euna cranberry sandwich, a black bean veggie burger and

I’ve been coming to Grand Haven/Spring Lake my whole life and I just tried Village Baker for the first time with my fiancé and family. We went for breakfast and it was very delicious! They have a variety of fresh baked goods and quite a selection on the menu for breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is very inviting. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They have a little cafe that sells an assortment of fresh breads and baked goods. The server must have forgot my 2 eggs and one of my beef medallions but rest assured, they were very nice and accommodating about that. They even gave me two

Cozy atmosphere. Home cooked quality breakfast lunch and dinner. Specialty coffee, bakery treats, pretzels, etc. The menu and selection is quite expansive, you would be hard pressed to not find anything that you might enjoy. Wait staff is friendly and attentive, I loved it. They also have a small gift shop in the waiting area.
