Awareness Psychology Center
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I work with clients experiencing a wide variety of life circumstances and issues. I have specialty training working with school-aged children, college students and families. My clinical research includes understanding negative experiences people face when online dating.
Services
Dr. Amelia L. Justice (she/her/hers) founded the Awareness Psychology Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Justice works with clients to provide them with a supportive environment where their life circumstances can be understood so that they may live their best life within their unique set of cultural factors - all while taking into account each person's therapeutic goals.
I have extensive clinical experience working within school systems, including public and private education, therapeutic day schools and colleges - conducting individual, group, and family therapy. When working with children and adolescents, it is essential to meet them where they are in the world; many clients in this age group are not in therapy by choice.
Healthy emotional expression, behavioral regulation, stress management and social skills building are the cornerstones of therapy when working with children and adolescents with special needs. I have extensive experience serving families of students with special needs.

In addition to the work to be done both in individual and family therapy, I am very comfortable supporting families as they navigate individualized education plans (IEP) with their children's school.I have worked both in general education and therapeutic day schools for many years, where a large part of my work was collaborating on teams with parents and educators in order to get students' therapeutic needs met.
People often may feel overwhelmed and discouraged when utilizing online dating platforms to form personal connections. Having conducted clinical research focusing on these challenging experiences, I seek to offer insight and direction, helping clients navigate these situations as empowered individuals.
My approach to working with clients is to first provide them an environment where their life circumstances can be understood so they can feel safe to explore new possiblities. My priority as a therapist is that my clients feel empowered to live their best life within their own unique set of cultural factors while taking into account their personal goals.
