My mother lived at the Citadel in the Memory Care wing for over 2 years. While there did seem to be a lot of turnover of staff, especially during Covid, I felt they did an exceptional job handling the pandemic. In particular, offering zoom calls once a week with me and my siblings (two of which live out of state.) I have had nothing but positive interactions with all caregivers during my face to face visits. We are so grateful for the care that was given. I would definitely recommend the Citadel

Pros: Beautiful campus, beautiful apartment layouts, good pool, good exercise room, very friendly staff, good selection of fun things to do on campus. This facility took a terrible hit from Covid, not so much from positive residents and employees but services were dropped and staff changed so radically that the before and after Covid have been a very difficult transition back to a semblance of normal.
Cons: Lack of adequate staff in all areas, the buildings are not getting the necessary upkeep due to lack of enough maintenance employees. (They are trying to hire in all areas)
We hope as residents

My father was taken to the Citadel after leaving the hospital in a severely weakened state from meningitis. No one contacted us for plan of treatment to regain strength. He was supposed to receive multiple types of therapy, but not sure if any was given beyond helping him to the bathroom. There is no communication at all, you are left guessing. Case worker doesn’t answer her phone and refuses to return calls. Find any other place than this one!

I had to be there 3 separate times for rehabilitation and all 3 stays were horrible. The last stay there I was recovering from a broken hip. I was in the hospital for a month and then transfered there. The first day and night that I was there I received none of my medications and could not even get the nurse to my room.. I asked for the nurse 4 times. The food was horrible and you got very little of it.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! This horrific place needs to be shut down by the state! They didn't even feed my mom half the time. They use covid-19 excuses not to allow anyone in there, so you have no idea what they are doing to the sick an elderly patients who can't care for themselves. They run the facility with no licenced nurses on duty, and when you would call, the same people keep giving you different names of who they are. They tried to steal $45 out of my mother's purse. When they were confronted about this, they denied it. When I threatened to call the police, all the sudden the money just showed

Don't let your family members live at The Citadel.
Once upon a time, my mom found this location for herself, and thought it to be a nice, quiet independent-living complex, where she could still have her small dogs, and get watched over when we were not around. Let me tell you why this was a bad idea, in hindsight, and why you shouldn't let your family live here.
At one point, I had Yelped about the complex, and she asked me to remove the review for fear of retaliation.
Let me preface this review by saying that these apartments are NOT CHEAP. Included, however, are 2 meals a day, basic

I have been to numerous assisted living communities with my family members recently. I can say that the Citadel was the most welcoming and friendly experience we've had from the moment we walked in we were treated like family. The community was very well kept the staff was great and it was very reasonably priced. The woman who gave us our tour went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable we had no pressure to sign up no rushing through to get to the next tour. She sat with us for almost 2 hours answering all of our questions and concerns from medical to the upcoming weeks menu.I highly recommend

The Citadel killed my mother.....she was sick and they didn't bother to contact anyone from the family. I was her power of attorney and was never notified..nor was anyone from her emergency contact list. By the time my sister tried calling her, it was too late :( Don't send your loved ones there. It is just a big business and they don't really care about the residents. Worst experience of my life!

As the Move-In Coordinator for The Citadel I have the pleasure of assisting new residents with their transition to our community. As we all know any move can be somewhat trying both emotionally and physically. In all my years of employment, I have never worked in a more emotionally supportive atmosphere. Our staff together strives to create a warm and inviting environment to our residents. The happiness and well-being of our residents, is our first priority. Being part of the Citadel team is not only my career, but my pleasure, each and every day.
