Services
Turnbridge welcomes young men to its New Haven, Connecticut facilities to overcome mental health and substance use disorders, and to learn the skills and confidence needed to lead full, passionate, and purposeful lives. Core to our practice is the three-phased program of therapy, experience, and structured living we call Preparative Care.
The Turnbridge Women's Program provides complete mind, body, and spirit recovery to young women suffering from mental health disorders, such as trauma, addictions, eating disorders, and other co-occurring mental health conditions. Our gender-responsive residential program addresses the unique ways in which mental health disorders affect the physical, mental, and emotional health of young women.
Setting the standard for the diagnosis and treatment of teen mental health and substance use disorders, Turnbridge adolescent treatment programs provide high-quality, whole-person care to restore a child's well-being and help them learn to lead a life worth protecting. Here, behavioral health luminaries and experienced care providers deliver individualized care that addresses every aspect of client life.
Our Preparative Care Program and rehab center was founded over 15 years ago, on the idea that each time we confront the challenges of our own human condition, we face a turning point - between conquering, and being conquered. One's ability to live one's purpose and become one's best self in the face of adversity is the crucible of character and the definition of successful living.
Our Preparative Care program focuses on transforming the affliction of addiction and mental health disorder into an opportunity for actualization. It uses a carefully choreographed and highly personalized system of life skills training, clinical therapy, case management, and collegial living to lead young men to experience a fundamental change.

This place is miserable. They lie to you about the length of stay until you sign the contracts, upon which they reveal the truth to you after you have already signed away your rights. They are affiliated with the local police and they will use the police to coerce you into staying. They do everything they can to isolate you from access to your own money and brainwash/turn your parents against you. Very few of the kids actually care about sobriety and there is a lot of violence from other clients. Parents, I'm begging you; do not subject your loved one to this misery.

Turnbridge helped save our son’s life. We were so fortunate to find such an amazing group of caring professionals. The treatment approach at Turnbridge was exactly what our family needed. Family involvement and support is a fundamental part of the program. My husband and I truly felt like we were a part of the process. The team was extremely responsive to any needs or concerns that arose. The growth that we have witnessed in our son and in our family has been amazing. Words can’t express how thankful we are that we found Turnbridge. This was our first long term treatment experience and we couldn’t

Just so you know, Turnbridge is not a medical facility, it is a residential treatment center. If you like to spend money, this is the place for you. Not only will you pay, they bill your insurance like clock work. If you try and take your loved one out, you will be told it's AMA, against medical advice. This is illegal, just so you know, that they tell you this because they are NOT a medical facility. Only a medical facility and a DOCTOR can do this. And if you take out your loved one, they will literally throw out their belongings in plastic bags on the street. At this point you and your loved

Do not send your loved ones here, this place is abusive and manipulative. They traumatized me and almost ruined my relationship with my dad on purpose. They break you to put you back together, then act like you’re “not safe” when you’re better and think you may leave. they make you stay forever and you won’t leave on their terms. they just want money. the people you have been there the longest dont even need it at that point. they just pay in full. also, you won’t be able to sign yourself out. only people i’ve seen do that needed to call the cops first. please. do not go here. they

Turnbridge was exactly what my son needed, small and compassionate care. He was willing to do the work, and the staff was incredible. I fully recommend Turnbridge Woodbury Residential and North Haven Extended Care programs. The therapists, program directors and house staff were amazing.. its the people that make the program!

My experience with Turnbridge has been decidedly positive. My son has been a client for over a year and is getting ready to leave the Phase 3 program to a sober house shortly. He has a job, bought a car and will contemplate higher education in the future. He is more focused and engaged in recovery and our relationship has grown remarkably. I finally have my son back! I can only pray his journey will continue in a positive direction.
The mentors, case managers, therapists have been there for me and my son and what is so important they got to know his strengths and weaknesses and developed a program

Turnbridge is an amazing group of professionals that help guide our loved ones toward a life of recovery. The length of time in the program is super beneficial because it allows opportunities to deal with feelings, behaviors and emotions that happen naturally. We had tried shorter programs and unfortunately they didn’t meet the needs of our son and old behaviors quickly returned.
Turnbridge persevered with our son and we truly came out on the other side with a young man that is better equipped to handle life. Also, the parent resources have helped me find balance as a mom of an adult in recovery

After multiple other treatment centers my daughter was finally able to get the long term care she so desperately needed. I am certain she would not have survived without the care she received. She is now thriving and living beyond my wildest dreams. Turnbridge supported her and our entire family. We had been living in crisis mode for years and the case managers, support staff, Family support, and administration was with us every step of the way as we untangled the mess our life had become due to substance use issues as well as mental health issues. Did my daughter love it the whole time? No, she

Honestly my experience at Turnbridge wasn't all bad to say the least, but the bad parts definitely overshadowed most of the good. Let me begin by saying there are only very few employees that want what's best for the clients. I went to turnbridge in April 2019 and "graduated" the program in November 2020. I will say Turnbridge did completely change my life and I am a very different person today. Its a shame that companies like Turnbridge manipulate vulnerable parents and children into going and keeping them until they have all the money they need from you. The main purpose of

*Update* I was discharged a year ago today from Turnbridge and just celebrated 3 years sober. I am 33 years old, and attended Turnbridge in 2017. I have been living independently for a year now since graduating from Turnbridge, living in my own apartment successfully. I cannot emphasize the importance of what aftercare at Turnbridge has given me- an ability to cope with medical situations without feeling a need to turn to narcotics and finding alternative pain management, how to get through a rigorous academic or work schedule while still managing my sobriety, dating in sobriety, setting healthy

Great program, full of support for the individual and family. If your willing to put the time in and take advantage of the program it will pay off tenfold. I've failed time after time and thanks to Turnbridge the cycle has ended and I've achieved long term sobriety and reformed an amazing relationship with my family.

Please do not send your loved ones here if you really care about them. First off, admissions lies to kids about the length of stay, I was told 3 months and when I arrived learned it was 1 year, if you're lucky. I asked my case manager why this was and he told me that's how it works with every rehab in the country. I asked the admissions director why he lies to the kids and he told me to my face that 90% of kids would not come if they knew it was a year. So they're selling a product (a very very expensive product) that if 90% of people knew what it actually was, wouldn't want

My son has been in this program for a year now. He is a different person. He is working, getting ready to start school and free from depression. My son is sober, clear headed and involved with AA. Turnbridge has been so supportive and involved in his changes. I'm so proud of all the work he has done but Turnbridge lead the way. They saved his life and I am so grateful to them. If you have a loved one struggling with drugs, Turnbridge is the program for them. They really do care and the program really works!

As a parent, overall, I would say they do a pretty good job. And by no means should my following comments deter anyone from the program itself. However, an awareness of the following should be taken into consideration. Initially we were led to believe that the program could cost as much as $85-100K. However, it turned out to be closer to $125k. There is a major effort on the part of upper management to have clients stay to the end of their full program, but it's very wise for the parent or guardian to monitor the progress closely on their own and not necessaily Turnbridge's pursuasive

The program at Turnbridge was invaluable for our 20 year old son. The clinicians, case managers and house managers provided compassion, guidance and advice and helped him develop life skills, strategies and tools to help him implement structure and discipline and to cope with his emotions and ups/downs of life. The professionals at Turnbridge are all in recovery and really understand the process their clients are going through and what they need to move forward. We will be forever grateful for the people at Turnbridge and the amazing progress they helped our son accomplish.

Turnbridge saved my life and led me on a path so that I could get my career back. I attended TB from June 2016- November 2017. This was not as easy journey but well worth my time. Did I want to be there initially? No! Slowly, I acclimated to the girls in the house and the professionals that were willing to do anything to save my life. I truly benefitted from the long-lasting friendships I made, IOP, recreation activities, meetings, and the education I received from ever single staff member about the disease of addiction. Seeing as this is a family disease, family therapy allowed my parents and

I went through the program. This was my first treatment so not a lot to be compared to. Had some issues with it but overall it was a really positive experience.
Pros:
Majority of staff is in recovery
The phase model works really well
12 step oriented (i.e. AA is still a huge part of my life post-graduating)
Most residential/living situations are really nice
New haven is a nice little city to get sober in, and Turnbridge encourages clients to become a part of the community.
I met some great people
Learned how to have fun in recovery (lots of activities to take advantage of)
Cons:
Very expensive

This place saved my life. They got me out of one of the worst places in my life. I have previously been to 5 other treatment centers. I complied and got out as soon as I could. I am super lucky that I got to step foot on Turnbridge. I live and breathe Turnbridge. We all do. Literally all my friends went through TP. Most of them stayed sober. The ones that left and got disconnected from meetings relapsed but most came back to meetings and are sober now.
The parents get connected to each other also. So they have a community to be a part of as well. Parents have to lean on each other and support

I believe that Turnbridge has the right tools in the program to help battle addiction. As someone who comes from an home with an addict, I think this program would have helped my loved one stay on the correct path. Everyone has their own way of coping with this disease and I believe that Turnbridge can help in someone's time of need. I think the length of the program is great. I don't believe that someone has the tools they need after a short term program to change and gain the tools they need to recover successfully.

I consider Turnbridge one the of top Recovery/Wellness centers in the country. I came into the program struggling in many different areas and (productivity and drug abuse) unable to handle the daily tasks life threw at me. I left about two weeks ago now and have become the most productive and motivated person I've ever been, thanks to the hard work I've put in but not without the guidance and support of the program. The program is about 1 year long depending on your situation but in all honesty long term treatment centers in my opinion are the most effective. 30-90 rehabs don't allow

Having had a few attempts at treatment assisted recovery, I can say that Turnbridge was, no contest, the most helpful. I struggled with opioid addiction for 6'ish years. After a few stays in 30 day programs and 8 months of incarceration, I decided to look for something different. Turnbridge initially caught my eye for a couple of reasons; the length of stay is closer to 12 months which was inspiring in the sense that I felt I had a safe place to live and work on myself without having to relocate after 30 days, and their treatment model incorporates reintegration into society as opposed to

I came through this program. It is a 3 phase model program that most people stay at for a year. First two phases are helpful. Phase 1 of this program does a good job of detoxing and actually providing good groups in the form of IOP and individualized counseling. Phase 2 does a good job helping the patient reintegrate into society and helps them look for and find a job, as well as learning how to balance the job with his/her own recovery and volunteer commitments. This is also the phase where a client can decide to further his/her education. The facility also has educational consultants on staff
