In 1905, J.W. Poland purchased Cameron Undertaking and Furniture from A.H. Pettijohn, changing the name to Poland Undertaking and Furniture. J. Foster assumed active management in 1941. In 1949, J.W.'s grandson, Robert F. Poland, a third-generation funeral director, became part of the company, and a joint partnership was formed in 1951.

At what, for some, is the worst possible time in your life - saying goodbye to a loved one, you need compassionate, professional, caring people who help guide you through the process. When the Poland-Thompson folks came to gather my Mother after she passed, they were all of those things and more.
Later, as we did paperwork at their office, their staff was consoling and caring, helping us get the necessary things done, without trying to pressure us into things my Mother didn't want. Their desire to respect her wishes was paramount.
