BDJI was conceived before I was a glimmer in my father's eye. Jewelry is in my genetics. I was born a jeweler's daughter. I literally grew up in Boston's famous Jewelers Exchange Building, helping my father and family after school and on weekends. As an adult, working as a professional singer and in the business and marketing world, I've had the opportunity to travel internationally.
Discovered in the Dominican Republic after an earthquake dislocated pieces into a river, Larimar gets its name from an early artisan combining his daughter's name "Larissa" with "mar", the Spanish word for ocean. Considered a healing stone, Larimar's brilliant blue color and lustre has inspired many generations of the Dominican Republic's artisans.
Esin grew up surrounded by art and creativity in Istanbul, and not surprisingly, developed a sincere passion for jewelry at a young age. She came of age watching her brother Mihran work tirelessly to become a master of gem setting and Esin felt deeply that jewelry was also her calling. Despite the fact that jewelry design was rarely pursued by women at such a young age, Esin knew that she had the talent for it.

I recently purchased my second beautiful necklace. I fell in love with the brilliant Laramir stone. Christine graciously met with me to discuss the design of this stunning piece. The bevel, around the heart; to the exquisite design behind the stone is beyond breathtaking.
