Loft School

The Loft School of Marion, Inc. was founded when a small group of parents recognized the need for a cooperative preschool in Marion. With one teacher and a handful of children, Loft began operations in the loft of an old barn on North Front Street in the fall of 1964. Within a couple of years, increasing class size demanded a more established location, and the program eventually moved to our present home at St. Gabriel's Church.

When I was looking for a pre-school for my daughter I really wanted a place that eased her into formal education. I was less worried about her learning academics as I was about teaching her how to get along with other kids and have a strong sense of self in a group. I have been so happy with the Loft experience.

The Loft School offers year round options for your family. From nurturing and educational Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten classes to enriching Summer fun.

Children in the preschool programs are guided through the process of following a simple routine, making friends, communicating their needs and ideas, developing self control over action and emotion and exploring a variety of social/emotional language and cognitive activities in a warm, safe and nurturing environment.The teachers in this class are assisted by parents on a rotating basis approximately once every 4-5 weeks.

STEAM into Summer! Building off of Loft School's 50-year history as the premier cooperative preschool in the tri-town area, we are pleased offer an enriching five-week summer program for children ages 2.9-5. Enrollment is limited to ensure a low student-teacher ratio and the summer program emphasizes learning through play.

Now in existence for over 50 years, Loft School of Marion continues to provide quality preschool programs and offerings to the community. We hope that you are able to take part in our annual appeal and help us to continue to be a unique preschool.
