Services
Pediatric dentists have completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children's dental and orthodontic problems. In other words, think of them as pediatricians of the mouth! Pediatric dentists know how to evaluate the proper positioning of teeth and jaw structures and evaluate the health of children's teeth, gums and mouth.
At Santee Pediatric Dentistry, our first and foremost priority is the safety and comfort of your child. Most dental procedures can be done with local anesthesia alone. In some instances, local anesthesia may be used in conjunction with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes the use of nitrous oxide as a very safe and effective way to mildly sedate children during dental treatments.
The American Association for Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. Early detection of potential orthodontic issues gives your child a better chance for natural and normal tooth development. Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment.
