Orthokeratology is a specialized procedure that uses a gas permeable contact lens to help reshape your cornea. The idea behind this technique can be compared to braces. Your Orthokeratologist will design a custom contact lens to change the shape of your cornea while you sleep. In the morning, you take your shaping lenses out and see clearly and crisply during the day.
Today's eyeglasses come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. This has transformed prescription eyeglasses from a vision necessity to a fashion accessory. Eyeglasses are more durable and thinner to fit all prescriptions. Matching the right type of lightweight lenses to the frames will complement and enhance your vision.
We use some of the most advanced technology in our office, including the Optomap Retinal Exam. We are proud to offer this service, and it helps us diagnose and treat your eyes accordingly. If you are suffering or at-risk for retinal problems, this machine will help us identify it. By catching serious health problems early, including partial loss of vision or blindness which often develop without warning and progress with no symptoms.
Vision screenings are limited eye tests that help identify people who are at risk for vision problems. These are the brief vision tests performed by the school nurse, a pediatrician, other health care providers or volunteers. The eye test that you take when you get your driver's license renewed is an example of a vision screening.
