Maywood Karate's new dojo is a top notch, 5 Star, Traditional Okinawan Karate Dojo. My daughter trains at Sensei Mason's dojo and the whole team there are the best. They have helped my daughter with her confidence and focus which actually overflows into other areas of her life. Everyone there is great with all the kids and it certainly shows. From watching and learning, I understand that proper self defense is a priceless life skill that everyone should have and one can achieve by joining and training at Maywood Karate. The membership dues are very reasonable considering everything you receive

The education received as a student at Maywood Karate not only teaches self defense skills, but also how to succeed in life's trials and tribulations in all aspects; socially, educationally, professionally and creating a disciplinary mindset to help achieve success in life; which is a skill that no educational institute of higher learning can teach.
Maywood Karate not only instills the above attributes, but makes learning karate fun for kids and teenagers as well as adults. It also creates family bonding as well when the adults of the students join the school and train together with their

My daughter showed an interest in Karate at the end of the 2018 school year. Being a lifelong Maywood Resident I decided to try Maywood Karate and I'm so glad that I did. We went to an open house and I was so pleased with how everyone was so welcoming and answered any questions I had and also helped Ryley with her session. It's like a huge family that we've become part of and I can't be more happy. My daughter loves going to Karate. There is no limit of classes you can attend each week/month and the prices are affordable even for being a single mom on a limited budget. Definitely

No "drive-thru" black belts here! This is not for those parents looking to check off another kids' activity off their list. You walk in and see the difference. This is a lifestyle, a healthy one, a positive atmosphere for families.
They teach traditional Okinawan karate (very Mr Miyagi, in a world filled with Kobra Kai's). You will learn self defense, self confidence...not showboating.
My brothers started at Maywood Karate when they opened over 25 years ago! (Almost unheard of for a small business in this economy to last! Which just shows you how good they are) I trained also

When you join Maywood Karate, you don't just join a martial arts school but you become part of a family of great people. The owners, who have had the karate school in Maywood for 20+ years have an attention to detail that creates great martial arts students but they also go above and beyond to get to know all their students on a personal level, holding annual picnics, beach outings and other social gatherings.
I started in 1992 and have since stopped training due to other commitments but have made countless friends here and still stop by the karate school frequently and look at the Senak
