Since its founding in 1973, Maps Counseling Services has endeavored to integrate effective and compassionate psychotherapy with the guiding principals of spirituality in order to help people find meaningful answers to life's problems. And in keeping with our mission, Maps furnishes these services in accordance with our clients' ability to pay for them.
For 48 years, this mission has guided Maps through challenging times and has helped us become the largest private provider of outpatient psychotherapy in the Monadnock Region. Maps began its existence as a pastoral counseling agency, founded by a group of Keene ministers who believed that psychotherapy and spiritually were inherently bound by a commitment to caring for others.

The Monadnock Area Pastoral Counseling Service (MAPSCS) was founded in Keene, New Hampshire in 1973 by a group of local ministers and lay people interested in providing professional pastoral counseling and pastoral care. The founders intentionally established MAPSCS as a decentralized organization with staff offering counseling in local churches and coming together for training and supervision.
The Maps Board of Directors is an integral part of the daily operation of Maps Counseling Services. Due to our size, Maps does not have administrative positions for finance, marketing, human services or other roles that many agencies take for granted. Instead, these tasks are the responsibility of board members in partnership with our Executive Director.
Tina Borsa, LCMHC is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Keene and Maps Training Director. As a clinician, she specializes in caring for children and their families, adolescents and adults. Tina brings her experience with play therapy to working with children who are dealing with trauma, behavioral and emotional problems.
We value and honor the integration of spirituality. There is recognition and praise for the diversity of our spiritual perspectives, and for our client-centered perspective which begins with each client's unique view of spirituality. Spirituality is understood as a function of our holistic approach to psychotherapy, providing individualized care that is culturally sensitive.
