Joyful Care Home Care
Many seniors want to live in their home as long as possible. Unfortunately, mental and physical deterioration may eventually make this impossible. Now more than ever, however, there are several senior care alternatives. Whether it's home health care, independent living communities, adult day programs, assisted living facilities, or a nursing home, there are many options to consider.

Before making any decisions about your loved one, however, it's important to understand your options, the level of care they will require, how best to help them transition to a new home, and what type of environment will help promote their lifestyle, safety, comfort, and independence. No matter what you decide the transition will be difficult.
Services
While most types of medical care and services provided at a medical facility have the goal of helping the patient recover, hospice care has a different goal. Hospice care provides practical support for individuals who are facing a disease or health condition which is unlikely to improve, and the patient's medical prognosis for life is six months or less.
Adult day programs provide services to seniors who may be isolated or physically unable to care for themselves independently throughout the day. Adult day programs operate during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, providing a variety of planned activities for seniors in a safe and supportive environment.
Individuals who need medical attention or support caring for themselves may have the desire to remain in their own home. Home health care is provided by a home health agency and may allow for this possibility with greater convenience and at a lower cost than a nursing home. Home health care agencies across the United States make millions of home visits each year.
Independent living communities, also referred to as retirement villages, retirement communities, and Congregate Care Units, allow seniors to live independently in apartments of various sizes. Meal plan options as well as social and entertainment activities, housekeeping, transportation, and laundry services may also be provided within the community.
With increased life expectancy the issue of long-term care has become increasingly important. Unfortunately, like other medical care costs, long-term care costs have increased substantially over the last several decades and can range from $42,000 per year for assisted living care up to a whopping $87,600 per year for a private room in a nursing home.
