Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value
Incompetence and immoral is a bad combo for any human but even worse for an attorney you trust to do work in your best interest. This guy will throw you under the bus for a few hundred dollars and cost you thousands, stay away. He should be sued himself by all the clients he screwed over collectively.

Very unprofessional in emails took a long time to submit the paperwork to the court house. Never answered my calls when I specifically told him to call me instead of emailing me. I would suggest finding someone who won’t disrespect you over emails. He’s too scared to call back when you confront him about his unprofessional behavior. Keep your money and find a better lawyer. Richard I hope you see this and I will make sure to post those emails you sent me

Not good about passing information or making sure you received it. Slow about communicating information to both parties. Can not prove he sent something to you after sending nasty emails stating it’s not his responsibility to get you all the information. Has no problem charging you for the nasty email either. Even my ex asked what was taking so long with my lawyer to get information to hers. Makes decisions on his own without talking to you about them. Do not use him, go to someone else that will take better care of your situation. Not a professional lawyer in any way shape or form.

Richard is well versed in law and really guides you in the right direction. I asked him to look into a case for my niece and he read the documents and helped me save money by not moving in the direction I was going but made a very simple suggestion that will save a lot of time and money. Thank you Richard

Let me tell about a lawyer that doesn't listen to you. I called the office for an initial review of my case, and Richard did not let me explain my case. Always interrupting me like he didn't want to listen.
The best part was then I said I'd like to start the intake process (aka PAY HIM TO REPRESENT ME) and he didn't hear it right because he cannot represent King county, only Pierce, and he simply HUNG UP on me.
I left another message to him after, explaining the misunderstanding but he did not call back.
If this is his behavior during a simple intake call, imagine how much worse it can happened

He seemed to be very understanding at first. He said it would be x amount and charged me a thousand over that. He didn't even file the paperwork he said he was going to file. He knew I was a stay at home mom and said he would accept payments. The payments were not enough. He has sent me numerous emails saying I need to pay him. He also put a lein on me because I couldn't pay him 100's of dollars every payment. He is what gives lawyers a bad name. Seriously look around before using him! I even had court facilitators tell me to report him.

I wish I could say he did the same for me that some of the other reviews have noted but it was complete opposite. In our first meeting I felt confident Mr. Ricketts had mine and my child's best interests in mind but very quickly he showed the complete opposite. He did nothing but make my case worse. He never filed documents that were supposed to be filed, would never answer my questions or respond to phone calls or emails. In our last court date he had the same exact argument that didn't work the 2 court dates prior and when the judge asked him blatant obvious questions regarding the case he had
