Joan Plastino is state and nationally licensed and has been practicing more than thirty years. There are many ways to do acupuncture. I strive to find the right methods and treatment style that works best for you. Listening and caring are important to me. I have completed a certificate program in Integrative Medicine from the University of Maryland in the process of earning a Masters.
Since the Affordable Care Act passed, most insurance companies in California cover acupuncture. We will bill most insurance companies, and in some cases for auto accidents. If you are a new patient and you want to use your insurance, please call or email me with your date of birth and individual ID # so I can verify eligibility and let you know your co-pay, deductible, etc.
Veterans: please get your referral from your VA doctor through the CCN Program and give the name Joan Plastino when you are called by the VA. The practice is often full and I may not be able to take new patients at the time you call or make your appointment online. Blue Shield and Anthem Blue reimburse acupuncturists at undisclosed amounts too subpar to accept their insurances.

I saw the previous reviewer had a bad experience trying to get ahold of the center and then had a scheduled appointment where you were not told was cancelled. I just wanted to share my opinion so please forgive me if I overstep. Stephanie I urge you to try again. Joan is an exceptional healer that listens, heals and soothes emotional and physical issues. I promise if given another chance you wouldn’t regret it. She is honestly one of my most important health care providers and she’s an amazing and caring soul with a nurturing touch. Thank you so much Joan for helping me with my neck/back pain.
I was traveling for a wedding and had an issue with my neck on the long flight and was able to make an appointment with Joan last minute on a Saturday. She was incredibly welcoming and I came into her office unable to move my left arm without significant discomfort. After about 45 minutes of treatment I left with so much less pain! It was incredible and the way she stayed with me and helped ease not only my physical pain but relaxed me as well saved me from excruciating pain. If I lived in the area I would surely visit her at least

I think everyone should have an opportunity to try acupuncture! I've always wanted to try it, but really needed a good solid referral so that I felt like I was having the best possible experience my first time around.
Thank goodness my first visit was with Joan - no guess-work here! She asks all the relevant questions, knows where to place all the needles, and the healing process begins almost right away.
I come with a variety of different problems; sleep issues, back pain, occasional stress, and more... and I ALWAYS leave feeling SO much better!
If you've been thinking about it, you must try

I was scared to go to acupuncture, but Joan has had a soft touch and giving me amazing results. I came to her with extremely bad headaches. And I had tried everything I know to relive them. My doctor refereed me to Petaluma Community Acupuncture and after about 5 session my pain is almost gone. Joan knows what she is doing and has helped me tremendously. She also is an amazing person. So generous and kind. I am now a true believer of acupuncture treatments. Thanks Joan you are a keeper!!

Joan has helped me for over ten years. Not only has she provided excellent acupuncture for numerous phycical problems, she has also guided me through very difficult times with fybromialgia. I find myself so very lucky to have Joan available in driving distance. But truly, I would go far to be treated by her.
