The Eco Thrift story actually begins long before Eco Thrift itself. In 1947, Greg Ellison's grandparents pioneered the private thrift store concept after a career of serving the less fortunate as Salvation Army officers. In 1982, Greg and his father Robert opened Value Center in downtown Vallejo, California with two trucks, 10 employees, and a very small showroom.
Over time, Greg and the remarkable crew of that first store improved the thrift store shopping experience by developing a highly focused merchandising strategy. By 1987, the 6,500-square foot Vallejo store was setting industry records in sales per square foot. In 1989, Greg and his crew began managing a second store in Stockton, which his father had opened in 1962.

Services
Our EcoThrift Stores thrive off donations of gently used items from thousands of people each year. If you would like to donate your used goods, we have several donation drop off points where you can do that. Just check the list below to make sure that all of your items are donations that we can accept.
We've operated continuously in Vallejo since Greg Ellison and his father started Eco Thrift here in 1982. We opened on Redwood Street in 1995. By the way, that first store, called The Value Center, was only 6,500 square feet. Eco Thrift Vallejo now offers approximately 17,000 square feet of showroom space, with new bargains every time you visit.
In every community Eco Thrift serves, we support charitable organizations by buying merchandise that has been donated through the charities' fundraising efforts. In fact, each Eco Thrift location only sells merchandise that has been purchased from charitable organizations within a 30-mile radius-assuring that each Eco Thrift location supports the community it serves and does so with a low carbon footprint.
Charitable events-fundraisers for the victims of natural disasters, coat drives for the needy during the winter, and our Job Interviews clothing program. Momentous occasions-we celebrate Earth Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, national holidays and Cinco de Mayo, among others. These activities reflect Eco Thrift's core values, including the dignity of our customers and employees, and service to the communities we serve.
Here, we'd like to share our deeply held values, the ones that drive us to deliver things our customers need or just plain want, at truly remarkable prices. We've built an entire business upon our unwavering belief in the inherent dignity of people. The dignity of our customers-who come from every walk of life-and our family of employees.

Unfortunately, my family and I just had a horrible experience with a rude, ignorant employee... we'll not be giving our hard earned money to this store ever! Come into Placer County, where we live and give your support to Stand Up Placer thrift store. Amazing organization who won't harass you or your family!. Bye-Bye Sac County!

I've been shopping here for years as well as the one in south Sacramento and I have never felt the way they made me feel today! I came in to just browse and when finally reached the register they treated me like a thief! Like I had switched a tag on a 2$ pain of leggings!!!! How humiliating I don't think I'll be returning if this is how you treat long time customers regardless if it's a thrift shop or not

A lot staff there when they make mistakes treat you like you're the one that works there and you are criminal not from California but that store was there before and I'm not sure why they accuse you of working there and treat you rudely it's almost like people spread rumors like on that show Dynasty The View, Daily blast live, The voice, As the World turns and General hospital. I would like to declare did I don't work thriftstore and never have and I've never applied there? I talked to Melody that works the counter at the Goodwill down the hill about the situation she

Pricing is ridiculous it seems to go up more and more even higher than retail pricing. I don't understand how they think anyone that goes to thrift stores are going to pay $175 for a coat, but I continuously see pricing over $100 and by the time the price goes down the item mysteriously disappears or it's torn apart from being looked over over.

I have been going to this thrift store for a while because it offers weekly break down base by the colored price mark. I don't necessary going there to buy my important daily must but rather to go there to enjoy the " hunting for bargains"
I have started to notice that store employees would go around the aisles, especially, Tuesday morning/afternoon changing the 75% off ticket to the non sale ticket, also, bring the 75 % off items away from the shelves.....
So far, I always have a cheerful time to shop at this place and believing there are many others like myself. However, loosing the idea of

A shockingly good selection in this thrift store, you can really find some awesome treasures if you are willing to take the time. Prices are reasonable and generally seem a bit more down to earth than goodwill. Things are clean and organized which is sometimes rare to find in a thrift. Don’t expect “service” and the self check out registers are a little wonky.

I've continued to stop by this place on Tuesdays when the new color tag sales start. Found some beautiful silk and cashmere scarves today, priced at $2-$5 each. Also picked up a designer silk dress for $10. Definitely worth it to spend time digging in the clothes sections. I did visit the other location on 55th Street, but the Citrus Heights location seems to get better donations and isn't as crowded.

This is a pretty big place. You can pretty much find what you you want to . Make sure you check to see what color the day is and also the other three associated colors. That means the first color will be 25% off, 50% off, or 75% off. Most of the stuff here if you buy that matches the color it is affordable otherwise you will be paying other regular prices. The lines are very nice and quick I did not have to wait too long.

This is the BEST thrift store in the East Bay, and honestly probably the larger Bay Area. The prices just cannot be beat, and in addition to the already low prices there are also tag sales where certain colors are 25%, 50% and 75% off. There is a HUGE selection of items, especially clothes. You will undoubtedly find something you want here anytime you visit. If you love thrifting, this is definitely the store for you!

I am a long time thrifter and this has been my go-to thrift store until yesterday. I found a used (possibly authentic) Kate Spade tote purse that I fell in love with. It wasn't in their boutique area, it was with the lesser expensive purses in the thrift store. It was marked $99.99 which I thought to be overpriced as I couldn't tell if it was authentic. I asked an employee if the price could possibly be negotiable since it's authenticity was questionable and he told me it was on "sale" for $74.99. That was acceptable and I was going to buy it, but I'm a bargainer

I really like this store and have been a customer for a long time but ever since this store has reopened after the COVID shut down they are in the habit of not only red tagging many items at ridiculous prices forever to avoid markdowns but they are also in the habit of retagging items when their color is set to mark down on color change day to a different color and often times raising the price in the process. This is bad business practice and lying to the consumer. If you are going to have a sale by colors and you mark an item a color you should not change the color of that items tag. This practice

This is by far the worst and most expensive thrift store I've ever seen. Used hoodies cost $35. Used radio? $250! Everything I saw inside cost 5times more than it should. Old sheets were $35!!! F this place I hope they go out of business and if you shop here you're a fool that could get everything here for half the price elsewhere. Waaaaay over retail pricing! How is this still open???

Much better than the Goodwill down the street in terms of selection.
Huge store filled with household items and clothing/accessories. Decent offerings of jewelry and certain label handbags (Kate Spade, Micheal Kors, Dooney & Burke, etc.)
Not much furniture, but many decor items.
Prices are good, and the increasing discounts make them even better.
