The Northeast Youth Center opened in 1971, thanks to the vision of our very own Hal McGlathery and the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department. Hal saw a need in the area and used a grant opportunity to help create the center. Shortly after, Hal brought funding to the West Central and East Central communities.

Good nutrition is essential for effective learning every day, all year long. Children who aren't hungry learn, act, and feel better. Our feeding programs help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the year. In February of 2013 the Northeast Youth Center began participating in the CACFP which provides a nutritious evening meal to children as a regular part of their day during care.

I have been working at NEYC since December of 2019 and I absolutely love working here. You get to make great connections with all the kids and all of the staff is so incredible and supportive of one another. We all work as a team to help make a positive difference in these kids lives and it is so rewarding. Best job I have ever had!!

It’s been a pleasure to be a supporter of the NEYC over the past few years. It’s been encouraging seeing how the facility and staff are taking on the many challenges they have faced over the past few months regarding the pandemic. Making sure students are fed, educated and provided with a safe and nurturing place during this time is crucial, especially for the most vulnerable. I enjoy visiting and seeing the smiles on staff and children; a truly special place for kids to grow and build strong character. Although some have left disheartening reviews, it’s important to recognize the challenges

NEYC has been an amazing place for our kids to go. They’ve been going there for over 3 years and they love all the activities, leaders, and the friends they have made while being there. Ray is there to always greet you with a smile and hug and Kate, the Director, whose heart is 100% for the kids. Both have become our friends and always take the time to visit with us when we come in. It’s become more of a family than just another childcare facility.

I love the NEYC! The Director, Kate, has the biggest heart of gold! She genuinely cares for the safety and well-being of all the children as if they are her own. Similarly, the staff under her leadership is also amazing! They provide positive support to all of the kids. I am thankful for Kate's kind soul that positively impacts so many families in our community on a daily basis. I highly recommend the NEYC for anyone's childcare needs! 🤩

He loves going there hes made lots of new friends, they keep them busy and are geared up to help with the school process like they did in the spring. I can't say enough wonderful things about the place. Thank you all for everything you do.

This place is great! My younger cousins go here and they always come home raving about all the fun things they get to do! They are always doing fun crafts and games and getting to take trips to cool places. This summer I got to see how well the staff interact with the kids. The manager also goes above and beyond and you can tell he really cares about all the kids and their entire families. Overall I highly recommend this place. Kids love it and I wish I could've gone here when I was a kid!

Before summer the daycare was mostly good. But over summer camp I found out older kids are bullying my nephew because he asks questions and the staff is doing nothing about it. My niece and nephew both hate this daycare now since the staff is not doing anything about my nephew being bullied and my niece is always getting in trouble. Every other days one of the kids are being written up because the staff doesn't ask either why their upset and instead decides they should get a note home instead of asking what's wrong and ignoringthem instead of talking with the kids. I am very disappointed with the
