Chong Shin Kwan (true spirit school) is a martial arts system that has it roots in both the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do and the Japanese martial art of Karate Do. Aikido is a very traditional Japanese martial art that stresses the harmony of mind and body. It is designed to control rather than destroy the opponent.
Iai-Tate Do is a blend of traditional Iaido (a martial art which utilizes the Japanese sword) and the more combative sword art known as Tate Do. This name was inspired by the essay, "Mind Like Water", by Takayuki Mikami. At Shinsuikan () we work to achieve this state through the dedicated practice of Tae Kwon Do/Karate Do, Iaido, Aikido, Judo and Jujitsu.

The system was founded in 1979 by Master Roger A. Jarrett who holds equal ranks in both the arts. The system's Korean influence comes from both major styles of Tae Kwon Do, the International TaeKwon Do Federation (ITF) and the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF).
Iai-Tate Do is a blend of traditional Iaido (a martial art which utilizes the Japanese sword) and the more combative sword art known as Tate Do. The Japan Iai-Tate Do Federation was founded by Yamazaki Kiyoshi Sensei, located in Anaheim, California. The style of Iaido practiced by the Federation is based on Kashima Shinto Ryu, which originated in Japan in the middle of the 15th century.

This is the BEST AIKIDO school in the area. I felt welcomed right away. They also teach karate and judo as separate classes. But I trained there for only Aikido. It's a blend of styles plus practical self defense applications. The teacher (Jacobs Sensei) is incredibly good, and is a legit 5th degree black belt. He explains and demonstrates everything very well! I had a good time.
