Colonial Day School
I am thrilled to share the news with our families that we have received a PERFECT SCORE from the state on our last 3 licensing visits. Two of these visits were our biannual licensing inspection. These are very extensive inspections and lasts several hours. Records are reviewed, classrooms observed, child-teacher interaction are noted, toys and equipment are checked, food program is monitored, just to mention a few items.

Literally hundreds of items are part of the inspection. Last year they had added another extensive inspection titled (Subsidy Inspection). This inspection is done the same day as the regular inspection and covers health and safety items. We were not cited for any violations at all. Not even one on any of these inspections!
Services
It is our mission at Colonial Day School to promote a caring and nurturing environment as an essential right of any child: especially for children entrusted by their parents or guardians to our daily care. Through our curriculum we strive for the highest physical, social, emotional, cognitive and academic growth for our preschoolers in a creative environment.
I have been with Colonial Day School for over 20 years. My son who just turned 31 years old attended here when he was just 2 years old! I also have two grandchildren who attended our childcare in Norfolk Va in their early years. I believe that we here at Colonial Day School have and always will make a difference in every child's life that we have the pleasure of serving.
We here at Colonial Day School are very proud of the service that our military men and women do for our great country. As a way of saying thank you, we would like to offer to any military family enrolling with us a "no supply fee charge". We are so blessed to live in one of the largest military areas on the east coast.
I am an American Red Cross Instructor. I teach classes for First Aid, CPR and AED. All of my staff members here at Colonial Day School are trained to SAVE a LIFE! If you or anyone you know is intrested in being trained or re-trained in the above field, please give them my name and number. I will be glad to teach them how to SAVE a LIFE!
Virginia Quality, formerly known as VSQI and QRIS is a quality program scale for Virginia child care centers sponsored by the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation. The Virginia Quality Program standards are above and beyond the minimum licensing standards required by the state and they focus on teacher / child interactions and the classroom environment.

My son truly enjoyed our tour at this school and was super excited to start the first couple days. By day 3 he was clinging to me and running away saying he didn't want to go (which is unusual for him) by the second week he had a major incident to the face under his eye. Not once did I receive a phone call and was shocked upon picking him up. Only six days later he had a second incident to the face where another kid attacked him. Again, no phone call. The teachers in his class were very nonchalant about these injuries and seem to do nothing to prevent them from happening again. The mornings

My son was at an in home daycare from 6 weeks to 2 years old. When that daycare closed, I was concerned about putting him into an actual daycare because he had never been around that many kids. My son has been in their two year old program since September and he absolutely loves it! He went from saying a few words here and there to talking up a storm! He can now identify pictures, colors, and numbers. He talks about his friends and his teachers all the time. They have also been working with me to get him potty trained. From the time I drop him off to when I pick him up, I never worry about him

I have been very happy with my experience at CDS since starting about 5 months ago. The program is affordable, the facility is clean, the schedule is very well-organized with both structured and unstructured activities, and the children are provided nutritious snacks and meals throughout the day. They even have a complimentary breakfast for parents every Monday. Any minor concerns that I have had (mainly since this is the first time I've had experience with a child in daycare!) have been immediately addressed by both Ms. Ann and the staff. Although sometimes the teachers are busy at pick-up and

Ms. Ann and her staff are amazing! We instantly felt very welcomed into this school from day 1. At the time of starting last year, my son had transition issuses and I was very straight forward with Ms. Ann and his teachers about what to expect, however it was not needed, my son loves this school and all the teachers that the transition was not a problem. After a year of us being here, we still feel welcomed everyday at drop off. I do believe that Ms. Ann and her staff love kids. So fortunate to have found her school and are able to keep coming!

As a family we started here with my daughter in 2015 and based on the treatment, instruction, and the love she received we knew our son would enjoy it the same. We are proud to be a part of the Colonial Day School family. They prepared my daughter for school and as a result she's made the honor every time. We will be here for as long as they'll have us.
Thank you Ms. Ann and staff we would never consider another school for our children.

I have enjoyed my daughter going here. I was nervous at first because she had been at the same daycare since she was 6months. The curriculum is great and I can see that my daughter is actually learning something instead of them just having her play games. Ms. Monique is very patient and tells you if there are any issues so that as a team you can come together and make sure your child is on track. I love that Ms. Ann knows the children by their names. I really feel my child is doing well here and I am glad I picked this place. I would recommend Colonial Day School to any parent.

I enrolled my daughter to colonial day school about a year ago. Ms Ann was very helpful in helping me get everything in order as i was enrolling my child to her facility while i was still in Texas. We emailed each other for a few days going back and forth with all the paperwork required and she made the situation a delight. My daughter loves it here. Her teachers are amazing and absolutely great and patient with her. As she is 4yrs old, they are getting her ready for school this comingg school year. I absolutely believe the colonial day school was the best choice for my daughter's taking care of

Colonial Day School is a wonderful school! My daughter attended the school for 10 months and truly loved her teachers and going to school everyday! I toured several schools in the area and Colonial Day School was the last. I truly saved the best for last! The teachers genuinely love the children and my daughter learned so much as it relates to academics and has learned many skills to help with her social/emotional development. In
addition, Ms. Ann is a wonderful director and is hands on. She really makes the children and the parents feel welcome. Colonial Day School was an awesome choice for my

When you think of the term "affordability" most skeptics would conclude a sacrifice to your child's overall health, wellness, and educational advancements. Colonial Day School is simply not the case. Not only is Ms. Anne a local business owner, she excels beyond the role of traditional Directors by working with the parents, teachers, and students in order to provide an excellent environment. The teachers have dedicated themselves for decades and are hands-on, personable, and enjoy watching YOUR children grow into upstanding citizens. They expand upon the unique differences, educational

I have both my daughters in this school and since starting they have both been excelling greatly. My youngest was told to have a developmental delay as far as speech goes and since starting her speech has increased dramatically and she has become a lot more social with her peers and feels a lot more comfortable around children her age.

My daughter attended Colonial Day School for 2 years. For the most part it was a pleasant experience. She cried everyday for the 1st month but the staff was very patient with her. They also assisted us with potty training her. If there was ever a problem, I felt confortable brining it to the director’s attention. We decided to transition her so that she could get a good head start on academics.

I wish I would have found this school sooner. I can't fool you when I tell you that Ms. Ann and the staff really do have a passion for children and their safety and well being. This was the first daycare that our 3 year old had started in and after the first week he was excited to go everyday. Every time we drop our son off I know he is safe at CDS.
The staff is very well trained and professional. CDS offers a great school based program for the younger children. During the summer they turn it into a "camp", if you will, with field trips and new experiences. They're always doing
