The 2000 Monte Bello Proprietary Red (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc) is a surprisingly forward example of a Ridge Monte Bello. The nose is a deep and rich melange of black and red fruits, kirch, cigar box and crushed rocks.

Such a fun little cozy wine bar with outdoor seating and heaters. The place was crowded on around 5:30 PM on Saturday. We walked in, sat down and here's what we ordered:
Pinot Take Flights : ah I absolutely loved the Storrs from Santa Cruz Mountains. Delish
Deviled Eggs: delish! Perfectly balanced acidity and Uh bacon hello!
Bacon Wrapped Dates: duhlicious! I love dates. I love bacon. I love blue cheese. So naturally I loves this. The bacon was nice and crispy and perfection!

The wines were lovely. The service was slow. Our server didn't know the wines so couldn't answer questions, then got our food order mixed up, but they corrected for it quickly. The flatbread and deviled eggs were delicious but I wasn't a fan of the mushrooms, the honey drizzle gave it a sweetness that didn't work for me.

Came here on a hump day afternoon to pick up some shipments. Sat down for a few bites over wine and were blown away by HH dishes. Bacon dates and blue flatbread was outta the world but nothing beats the tomato bruschetta crostini it was so fresh and crunchy we ended up ordering 4x. Monte Sereno flatbread was amazing too, everything was superb! Three of us tried pretty much every all the wines on the menu and loved every one of them. Glad I live nearby and will make this my usual go-to place for afternoon bite or work on laptop. HH 3-6pm at the moment.

I've only been on the sidewalk seating area since we brought along a dog.. Our server looked so excited, she came out with a bag of organic dog treats and asked if she could give one. They keep a bag of dog treats for moments like these??
We came near closing and so the kitchen was closing down and we got the heads up. We just stopped for a beverage while we were walking. They had pre-made cocktails, wine, and beer.. Drinks are pricey but it was a nice stop to have a drink and I know not everyone is going to be able to sit near nice people but that was our experience.. not that the tables

Service is definitely lacking here. We asked for a seat outside, they sat us down and never came back. We were all set to spend over $100 and felt they were judging us by the way we were dressed. They looked at us but never approached us for a solid 20 min. (Not exaggerating, we timed it due to a flight we had to catch). Literally saw the female server flirting with some old guy dining alone. Got up and left, grabbed a drink at Loma instead. (Wine/food was wayyy overpriced anyways and definitely catering to a certain demographic ). Highly recommend Loma Brewing! They even had live music going on

Got a table outside and the waiter even turned out the heat lamp as soon as asked him. Liking the service already, and I just sat down.
We ordered two flights, a charcuterie plate, deviled eggs and a barrata olive oil plate.
Sherry was our waitress. Love her demeanor, her knowledge of the food and wine and her service.
For the red wine flight, we found a red wine he liked very much and it turns out that it's from Italy and Joe, their wine expert

Cut wine bar to grab an appetizer and a glass of wine on a weekend. Had a really nice time enjoying a $20 - 3 glasses of wine flight. It was a great deal on the flight itself and was able to try 3 different wines before settling on a bottle or another glass to buy. Would come back and order the deviled eggs, they looked fantastic.

So glad this place is open during COVID! Had a much needed GNO here. They have all outdoor seating of course (try snagging the seats with the fire pit, super cozy!) and ample seating spaced out from each other. I was a bit worried about how outdoor dining would be but there's plenty of seating.
We got a bottle of Rose for the table- crisp, not overly sweet like some Roses. Absolutely perfect. Three of us finished the bottle easily (tip: you can get a free side of deviled eggs only if you order a bottle) & ordered a side of sourdough and burrata. The waiter was really nice & accommodating

I was lucky to have Paul at the bar. His excellent knowledge and service opened my eyes to how improved Rootstock is after years of meh! This place charges you 18% tip upfront, gives you one napkin with your food and acts like they're doing you a huge favor. After one hour they say you have to leave so they can quickly charge the next party? And the host didn't mention this in his long covid speech.

How I ended up at Rootstock with a non-drinker and a vegan is beyond me. But they chose the place so I couldn't be blamed. Anyway, I enjoyed a big glass of delicious chardonnay with my prosciutto and cheese flat bread while they drank water and ate vegetarian flat breads without cheese (like, why bother, really?). Anyway, the waitstaff was totally accommodating and the service was great, although poor things couldn't avoid overhearing our racy girl talk as the place was empty except for us. (I know I saw you smiling as we exited the restaurant). We enjoyed some great charcuterie. Just be warned
