With the diversity of the homes we offer, from 1 bedroom apartments to 5 bedroom houses & properties from Smithfield to Suffolk, we have something to please everyone. We always make sure our properties are taken care of. Not only are we open Monday to Friday 8-4 p.m., but we provide tenants with a 24 hour number for those unexpected emergencies.

Cross Management was started in 2003 by Hugh Ritchie Cross, CRS, GRI, RMP. Hugh worked with his father, Harry Lee Cross Jr., for many years before starting his own company. Hugh has been licensed in Real Estate since 1969. He is an active member of the Hampton Roads Realtor Association (HRRA), the Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
Services
We do not accept cash for anything. We do, however, now accept Discover, MasterCard, Visa & American Express credit cards for application fees & rent payments. There is a 1-3% convenience charge for all credit/debit card payments. Deposits & first months' rent must be paid by certified funds. You would just have to come into the office, fill out an application, & provide us with a photo ID.
Rental Application: *Your application will not be approved nor denied until you have viewed the property of your choice and completed our application process. A separate pet application, photo of the pet(s), vaccination records and other items may be needed before the pet is approved. The owner of the unit carries insurance on the building only.

I was waiting for American Family Clinic to open, so I stopped in to get a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Both my coffee and sandwich were very good. As I prepared to leave, I wanted to use the restroom only to realize that they were closed! It's beyond me how they can charge almost $10 for my purchase and not provide bathroom services! I had to go to another place to use the restroom and was late for my appointment as a result.

I don’t know whether to call it not responsive or not
Professional, but this is the second time I have applied for a rental...the first property I could not get in touch with anyone and when I finally did after filling out the application I send a copy of my ID in only to be told it’s rented. That was a waste of time and an application, second property I fill the application out and low and behold I don’t see it on the site anymore. The worker told me she needed proof that it was ok for me to pay the difference on the property. I email her and her response is it was rented out today. STOP

Very condescending, along with hard to reach. Submitted an application and continued to show interest in a rental house and when I asked follow up questions was told “to be honest sir I have about 30 applications before I even consider yours.” Trying to get a viewing here is more difficult than just about any experience I’ve had with any property management and I’ve rented all over the country. I guess they figure they can act however they want and have whatever policies they please in the smaller market of Suffolk. Oh well, their loss.

The staff is extremely friendly and professional. They worked really hard to find us a place that we could afford in the limited time we had. They were very prompt to address the maintenance issues we had.

Cross Management has been responsive to our concerns as tenants for the last three years. When we call regarding maintenance, we receive calls usually within minutes from service providers. The young ladies in the office are always nice to us, and they even offer online payments that are reported to the credit bureaus.

Very good landlord. If you are having problems with anything at the rental Mr. Cross will arrange for the issue to be resolved. Also Mr. Cross will work with you if you are having $$$ issues. Office staff is very friendly and helpful with any issue you might have, professional also.

This is the most unprofessional management company I have ever dealt with. They have young, unexperienced high school graduates running the office acting like property management professionals. It is a joke! They rent trash, and then charge you for all the trash, broken items when you move out. Take me warning and DO NOT rent from this company.

The worst rental company. They have drunks as maintenance people, they repair your broken stuff with old stuff that they took from another raggedy rental. Rent now regret later!

Stay CLEAR of Cross Management of Suffolk!

You have been forewarned.

They advertise their properties as 'ready to move in' but it took my wife and I close to 2 days to clean the mold and other dirt off the appliances, including us having to stay in a hotel for a night when we had PAID FOR THE APARTMENT. This cost me $78 for a hotel room, $45 in cleaning supplies and 16 hours of cleaning (you do the math on the cost of man hours for cleaning). The apartment was not completely painted. Floors were disgusting. Shelves were not put up properly. The staircase smelled like moldy dog. That
