Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury is the result of a vision - a special care program of rehabilitation and recovery to serve individuals with complex needs such as brain injury, neurobehavioral disorders, spinal cord injury, complex medical recovery, ventilator care and ventilator weaning.

We were conceived as a program that would assist individuals with challenging issues including those who may have been seen as poor rehabilitation candidates. Northeast Center's premier State-of-the-art unit provides Subacute Care that returns patients to their highest level of functioning after injury, illness or surgery.
Services
Our constant objective is community reentry, and we are leaders in assisting people to return to their homes and loved ones. But the ultimate treatment goal for a Northeast Center Resident-Neighbor is so much more: Our entire staff promotes a style of living that maintains the gains made in therapy, promotes mental and physical health, and enables a positive, hopeful outlook that continues to grow throughout an individual's lifetime.
Parents, adult children or other family members can refer a loved one to the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury. Discharge planners, case mangers, social workers, physicians or anyone having an interest in supporting the care and rehabilitation of an individual can also make referrals.
Brain injury rehabilitation is a focused yet delicate process. And while many brain injuries share characteristics with other disabling conditions, the most notable deficiency in the immediate aftermath of a brain injury is cognitive impairment. Cognitive impairment tends to reduce the individual's ability to actively participate in everyday life.
Our Neuro-Rehabilitation Program - or NRP - is designed to help individuals continue to progress physically, behaviorally and cognitively after their injury. The program is organized around a core schedule of classes and special programs. Each Resident-Neighbor is assigned to one of six different levels, depending on their cognitive and behavioral ability.
Any damage to the brain may potentially impair a person's ability to regulate their behavior. When such impairment is so severe that the person is a danger to themselves or others, a special setting and approach is required. The NeuroIntensive Program - or NBI - treats individuals whose brains are trying to function normally but cannot.

My mother has been a patient at the Northeast Center for Rehab and Brain injury three times following unfortunate accidents and illnesses. Each time she received excellent care and exceptional Rehabilitation. She has been able to go home independently each time because of the wonderful staff at NCRBI.

If I could leave zero I would. My father went in here a week and a half ago and yesterday they found him with a temp under 90 degrees and a bpm under 50. The doctors at the ER said it is very unlikely this couldv'e happened over night. He tested positive for pneumonia and a blood infection. I will be pursuing legal action. This facility either needs a total staff remodel/retraining or to be shutdown.

As an LPN I worked on the vent unit : the MD on the unit was a 4'11" little man who would scream and yell at nurses. Most of the nurses did not want to have to talk to him which put neighbors at risk. One time a critical lab where a neighbor should've been transfused went unreported and MD was reported to director of nursing. The MD ruined the nurse that reported him and she cannot work in Vassar hospital or Nuvance Health , and same with Westchester Medical where this crazy little doctor works.
The staffing is terrible in this facility which is due to the constant inherent bullying from the long

Please listen to the negative reviews because they are all true. I have been in many rehabs before. This place is understaffed, incompetent, you have to wait days to see a Dr. Place is dirty. Everyone is under lock and key. They give minimal time only during week for any rehab. Even the dining room tables are perpetually sticky. No one returns phone calls. Nurses never have answers to anything or told this not my floor. I picked this place specifically for brain injury and arms rehab. I am so sorry.

As a state certified nursing assistant I would give this facility no stars as they violate patient rights and confidentiality in every way. They do not run background checks. The staff are irresponsible and abusive. 3 out of every four residents are not law abiding citizens. Many have felonies. I have met a person whose mother died of intestinal blockage while in their care. Their staff psychologist is vindictive when you choose not to meet with him when he tries to force his way into your room. He refused to meet if I were to talk with him "observed" in front of the nurses' station. I have to give

Northeast Center is a special place catering to a special population. My loved one has been a resident at Northeast Center and I am amazed at the compassion the staff display. My loved one suffered a brain injury 3 years ago and whenever I visit I see the patience the staff have with him. He has changed as a person, which is often the case when sustaining a brain injury, and I am now coming to love this "new" person with the help of the staff. I've read the other reviews and in my experience those reviews are false. I think a lot of families don't realize the amount of effort that goes in to caring

My husband was in a car accident in the Spring and we thought he would never walk again. Mid Hudson Regional hospital recommended the Northeast Center because if it’s highly regarded physical therapy and brain injury program. We took a tour of the facility and the admissions person Susan was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and explained the Insurance process and how the physical therapy and occupational therapy would work, she introduced us to everyone and put us at ease. My husband was there for approximately six weeks. The Nurses on the The unit were very friendly and kept us abreast of
