Safe Harbor Christian Counseling began in January of 1996 in Bel Air, Maryland, with Erik Sundquist who had a desire to provide Christian-Based, Clinically Sound counseling to clients. A hallmark of the practice from the beginning was the belief that redemptive relationships integrated with strong clinical foundations provide the necessary ingredients for positive change.

Another foundational piece of the framework from the beginning is the reality that God's presence can give strength to the weary, which can empower them to pursue mental health rigorously. By 1998, Safe Harbor began to grow as more counselors joined Erik in walking with clients, as they did significant work related to issues in their lives.

As a pastor, I have been looking many years for a Biblically based counseling service. I was fortunate to find just that in Safe Harbor Christian Counseling and Robert Hutter. I have found a professional who is grounded in God's word with the heart of a counselor. Rob is trustworthy, faithful and straight forward in providing treatment solutions for many of life's issues.
An article written for Christian Counseling Today; used with permission. The radical nature of Christianity is becoming more apparent to me as time goes by. It is my hope and prayer that this recognition is the work of God pressing my mind into the shape of the mind of Christ as the years go by. He has said that His thoughts and ours are not the same.

The Bible reveals it like this: "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of God our Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world"(James 1:27) and ".to the extent that you did it to the least of them, you did it to Me" (Matthew 25:40).
