Services
Martha Elk has been baking for pure pleasure for over a decade. She uncovered her passion while living and working in Japan, where box made desserts--her only claim to fame in the kitchen up until that point--don't really exist. Martha spent the next four years in Japan learning how to bake from scratch and her baking quickly became a source of creativity, exploration, and discovery in an area of her life previously unknown.

Martha was so amazing to work with!! She squeezed us in for a last minute tasting when our Covid-delayed wedding totally snuck up on us. We wanted a small cake for cutting and photos along with an assorted table of fun desserts for our guests, and boy did she deliver! With almost no direction from us, she created the most beautiful (and delicious!) cake, along with an amazing assortment of super delicious desserts! When we first called Martha, we didn't really know what we wanted. Luckily for us, Martha did a great job of suggesting interesting and unique flavor combinations that we fell in love

Amazing cake for our wedding! Stunningly beautiful and so delicious. Martha worked with us on bringing together all the elements of our wedding. She made a delicious cake with two different flavors. We had lemon cake with strawberry rhubarb and chocolate salted caramel. Our guests couldn't decide which they liked better. We also got the mini blueberry pies which were a huge hit. When describing what I wanted in a cake i never imagined how beautifully Martha would be able to make. She was wonderful!

Martha was an absolute pleasure to work with when planning our wedding cake. She is so creative and highly talented. She helped my husband and I create a cake that blended flavors and designs from our diverse cultural backgrounds and made the cake represent us as a couple. Furthermore, the cake was the most delicious cake I have ever tasted and the most beautiful I have ever seen. I would highly recommend working with Martha.

I have known Martha Elk forever and had experienced her fabulous variety of deserts, so when we needed a cake and deserts for our October Wedding she was the obvious choice for our German Chocolate Red Velvet mashup. She did not disappoint! She pulled together all our various style ideas and produce a beautiful cake that fit us perfectly. She also made our GF Mini-Whoopie Pies and Apple Cider Donuts. She was flexible and responsive to our changing needs and in the end we and our guests were all thrilled.

I bought some heart-shaped whoopie pies from Hanami Cake Design for my mom and they were not only beautiful but SO delicious. I feel like with typical baked goods, a lot of the time you either get an impeccably pretty pastry OR a scrumptious pastry. I always get BOTH with Hanami. Martha just puts so much love and care in her work and it so shows. I love that she can do vegan/gluten-free/elder flower wedding cakes/fun desserts for a dinner party/etc and again whatever it is IT"S SO GOOD always. She made a chocolate peanut butter cake for my boyfriend's birthday and we're still dreaming about it

I inquired about a "groom's cake" for my wedding and when Martha's response was so detail oriented. I could sense her excitement about helping me design a cake that was perfectly custom to my husband. She asked an abundance of questions to get to know him better and design a cake around all his favorite things. The cake design turned out beautiful with touches of all the details we discussed. The cake itself was a vegan dark chocolate red wine cake with a red wine chocolate ganache filling-- it was the best chocolate cake I have ever had. We were delighted! Martha’s elegant cutting cake (decorated with swirls and hearts) surrounded by her heart shaped whoopie pies was the centerpiece for our at-home wedding celebration in Gorham on May 4th. Martha delivered everything for our party right on time and set up the entire beautiful display for us on our dining room table before our guests arrived. Everybody loved both admiring and eating (!) her creations. We were so happy that we found her, and now Martha is baking another batch of her heart-shaped whoopie pies for my daughters wedding shower. Highly recommended!
