Services
This is a common question many people have. As opposed to psychiatrists who are medical doctors and predominantly trained in diagnosing mental illness and prescribing medications, psychologists and psychotherapists are trained in psychotherapy, which is a person who treats mental health issues by psychological rather than medical (medication) means.
Are you a hot mess on the inside, but still wearing the "I'm fine" mask every day? Are you struggling to develop or maintain meaningful relationships with friends and/or intimate partners? Is the thought of intimacy intimidating because of past relationships? Is it hard to understand your partner's needs?
As an experienced mental health therapist, I feel honored to listen to your story and work together toward change and healing. My style is warm, supportive, kind, honest and collaborative. I place the utmost importance on developing a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. I am grounded in person-centered counseling, which emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and acceptance in relationship.
My passion from a young age has been to learn how to help others and empower them to help themselves. I strive to provide an environment of being heard in a non-judgmental, compassionate, caring manner that encourages curiosity. I want to help you believe in your own abilities, strengths and values.
You've already decided that you would like to start seeing a therapist, and now comes the process of deciding which provider to work with. While you're evaluating your options, you notice that some of the providers available to you are listed as an "intern" in their profile.

Interns always have one clinical supervisor, and often two: one clinical supervisor at the site they are interning, and often one clinical supervisor in their educational program as well. These supervisors are fully licensed and credentialed, and often have special training to become supervisors themselves.

Had a great experience with Melissa. I had been to a few therapists in the past and feel like I walked away with something from each of them, but feel like I made the most progress with Melissa. Highly recommend.

I am becoming a better person for myself and my family, I use to think therapy wasn't for me & that it wouldn't help but now I truly believe it has opened many doors and has helped me in many ways, Thanks so much Melissa

Several communication issues and no follow up. I have a young teenager that feels inadequate and this did not help. Therapist had zoom calls from a sick bed and kept putting her on hold to take calls and return emails. Never filled up the entire session. I feel more harm than good.

I Truly Had An Amazing Experience & Enjoy Working With My Therapist. She Truly Was Friendly & Made Me Feel Comfortable Around Her. After Our Session, I Felt Like A Weight Was Off My Shoulder. I Will Definitely Be Recommending Her.

Do not recommend. Extensive paperwork required before first session which apparently must be completed all at once. Hours of work. Mine was wiped away one morning after working on it for days. They simply referred me to someone else. I never met the counselor so I can't comment on her just hopefully she's a little more flexible. Disappointed.
