Gilbert's Martial Arts Academy is a family oriented Martial Arts Academy in Shermansdale and Mechanicsburg, PA. We teach students ages 3 & up. However Stephanie already had a martial arts academy prior to GMA, which was founded in 1998, in Germany. GMA offers mostly kickboxing, with a touch of karate, ju jitsu, self defense and capoeira. If you always wanted to try martial arts, here's your chance, and it's right in front of your door.
Services
GMA features an "Excellent Kids" program for the real little ones. During class they learn life-skills and martial arts in a fun and engaging mix. All classes are taught in an age-specific curriculum, so they can succeed at home, in school, in the martial arts and in life. Each week your child will work on a different life skill such as focus, manners, respect, and discipline.
GMA currently offers a fun and educating martial arts after school program for elementary kids. Our super cool karate shuttle will pick them up straight from school. Then they go straight to Gilbert's Martial Arts, where they receive a healthy meal, started of by a prayer (yes, we will not take prayer out of this school) and then everyone focuses on homework.
The Shermansdale group is a closeknit little team. Lots of times we train outside at Lupfer's Grove community park, unless the weather won't permit it. Then you will find us at 5900 Spring Road, which is the trailer opposite the Lupfer's Grove sign and the baseball field on the road leading down from route 34.
FREE "Parent's Night Out" in Shermansdale at Gilbert's Martial Arts Academy from 6-9. We have our PNO's every 3rd Saturday of the month. This is for our children as well as children in the community. Before you come in, please make sure, that your child can have a spot as spaces are limited. Also, if you're new at Gilbert's Martial Arts, you will have to sign a waiver.
Our theme for this year was the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". This year was the first year that we had a theme. The past years we just participated in our Karate suits. It was a lot of fun! We will definitely do this again. If you have a suggestion for a costume for next year, feel free to message us and let us know.
