Anyone who is married, or who is in a long-term relationship, will tell you that making their relationship work isn't always easy. Even the couples who never seem to fight when around family or friends admit to having disagreements behind closed doors - no one, and no relationship, is perfect. The difference between one relationship and the next is how the couple deals with these disagreements.
Research has shown that people who seek couples counseling are more likely to repair their relationship than those who don't. Often, when our relationships don't go well, it can be hard to figure out why. After repeated struggles, many couples wonder: "Can we heal our relationship or have we done too much damage?"

Services
For better or worse, we learn our patterns of intimacy, core values, personal expectations and even our emotional reactions to certain events and circumstances-troublesome or otherwise-from relationships with our immediate and extended family.
Without the necessary motivation to change, we are destined to repeat these unwanted internalized patterns of relating to others and we become stuck in a vicious cycle of always trying to 'get rid' of emotions, feelings or thoughts instead of facing them and trying to reach a deeper understanding of our behaviors. As a result, we find that we are not always able to cope with difficult experiences as well as we used to.

Personalized Services Every client is different. That's why taking an individual approach to creating each counseling session is so important. After the initial assessment, a customized program is developed to help clients in identifying unique strengths, learning new coping skills, and developing healthier perspectives on life.
A couples counseling session involves both you and your partner attending sessions. Both you and your partner will discuss specific problems you would like to solve and the therapist will collaborate with you to set goals together. During your sessions, your therapist will act as an impartial third party working to ensure the two of you meet your goals successfully.
You wake up in the morning with this feeling of pressure, perhaps even a sense of dread about the day ahead and all the things you have to do. You notice tension in your body, maybe in your neck and shoulders, or a tight feeling in your chest. But there is no time to stop and do something for you. You can't possibly imagine fitting one more thing on your already very long list of "to do's".
We are often asked if certain issues fall under the umbrella of services we offer. The answer is frequently "yes", but to better clarify why some couples and individuals ask to work with us we have outlined some of the more common reasons that our clients request our services. Please note that these are not exclusive to the issues we deal with, just those that we tend to see on a more frequent basis.
