The Tailory New York is an appointment-only, women-owned, and operated bespoke clothing company that combines modern fashion design with the heritage art of custom-tailoring. We believe that custom suits are genderless and we cater in equal measure to men, women, and non-binary individuals. Custom suits can convey a specific identity or image to the world around us.
When designing a suit, we always ask ourselves: Who is the wearer, and where will they be wearing their suit? What are they trying to communicate to the world around them? And how can we create a suit tailored to their unique style, physique, and gender identity and/or presentation? We believe that clothing is genderless, and we cater in equal measure to men, women, and non-binary individuals. Providing personally designed, fitted, and curated collections for each individual client is the essence of who we are.
The health of you and your family is our highest concern. We now offer virtual fittings via Facetime, Zoom, or your preferred video call application. We'll then take your measurements using a body scan tool in our state of the art measuring app! Designing your suit from top to bottom, inside out. We will help you choose your styling details, from lapel and pocket styles to shirt collars and pant closures with attention to your wants and needs.

My suit makes me feel like one million dollars. After graduating Harvard my mother brought me to The Tailory as a gift. She has been getting suits from them for years and I she always promised that I could have one too. I never knew a suit could bring me so much joy. I always looked forward to seeing Silke and Shao again for my fittings and a delicious martini… made by Shao the founder (Shao!!!). What a delight. I had a stellar experience with The Tailory through their mobile pop up in DC. I greatly appreciated their guidance on fabric choice and suit details (lapel shape, venting, shoulder pads). I also felt that they had a relatively transparent communication style - despite small hiccups in timing of the suit delivery and the fact that they did not come back to DC for follow-up fittings. All in all, the suit turned out beautifully - and I got so, so many compliments on it! I would recommend The Tailory and their services for anyone looking for a unique, custom suit.

I had the most incredible experience working with the Tailory! In my second to last fitting the suit wasn't fitting exactly right so they completely redid the suit from scratch, delivered on time and didn't charge anything additional. I couldn't recommend them enough, they will ensure you look absolutely perfect and have a suit for years to come!

My sister was getting married in Korea and needed me to buy a modern yet traditional suit. I couldn’t find one anywhere, which led me to The Tailory. I told them what I was looking for, and the owner, actually sketched out the suit and helped me choose every detail from color to the traditional fabric covered button. They even went and SOURCED a ramie textile that I ended up using for my vest. Based on the five-star Yelp reviews, my wife and I tried The Tailory's virtual fitting services. We ended up at a loss of $2,000, with an unwearable suit that we donated to a nonprofit. The privacy risks, poor craftsmanship, slow turnaround, dishonest communication, and unprofessional conduct from the owner, all left a bad taste in our mouths.

Wow. I used to buy my suits from department stores. Why did I ever do that? I guess I thought they looked nice.
I never thought the perfect suit existed, that is until I went to The Tailory. Custom made for my body, the jacket fits perfectly, the pants are exactly how I was hoping they would be. Safe to say I will be back for more suits. Shao and Valerie were beyond exceptional, there attention to detail was exquisite - I don't think I will every buy a suit anywhere else.

This place is awesome. I got my first custom made suit for my wedding and I look damn sexy in it. I also bought the white shirt and I looked adorable. I want to thank Shao for the excellent business and hopefully this suit will make my wedding pictures shine. I decided to update my work wardrobe with custom made, properly fitting suits once and for all. I looked on YELP and easily found Shao, owner and designer of The Tailory, who appears to be the only person in New York who caters to women without using male suiting models.
In a few weeks, I will be wearing 8 new pieces of clothing, made just for me, in an array of British and Italian fabrics, with spectacular linings, pipings and specific bottons to go with each garment, at fair prices. Can't wait for my clothes to arrive and return to expand my beautiful new wardrobe! Feels grand!

I have not have to get a suite for interview for 15 years, but I have never thought I could afford a tailored suite. I thought, what the heck, to get myself a present. Very happy with the experience as the designer is able to... spot your deficiencies and make the appropriate design to cover it. The tailored fit really gives you the confidence that I have not gotten from big stores. Highly recommended!

I used to wear off the rack suits for some time and have always hated the process of buying a new one. So one day I decided to try a custom. My first custom suit made me feel like a million bucks, I thought to myself "what have I been doing all these years?".
