Taft Street Winery
Like the renegade bordeaux winemakers known as Garagistes Taft Street began in a garage rather than a grand chateau, stressing quality without pretense. From a backyard Berkeley garage to a former apple processing plant in Sebastopol, California, the family at Taft Street is proud to craft limited production, crowd pleasing wines from select Sonoma County vineyards.

The term "garagistes" originated in Bordeaux in the 1980s and refers to innovative winemakers who produce exceptional wines in their garages rather than in grand chateaux. Since 1979, we have carried on the garagistes tradition of creativity and excellence in a down-to-earth locale. Let the Taft Street family take the work out of company and personal gifting with personalized wine gifts to fit every client, friend, and budget.

Lovely west county experience. I love visiting wineries off the beaten path as they tend to have a more intimate and welcoming experience and Taft certainly meets the bill. They are welcoming, friendly and a great place to have a casual and enjoyable wine experience.
Taft is the kind of place you can visit for the afternoon, bring a snack with you and enjoy the outdoor picnic space with your newly acquired Taft wine.
in the warm months on the weekends you may find yourself enjoying live music. They offer a variety of lovely Chardonnay and Pinot selections at reasonable price points. I highly

Do you dream of a romantic escape to a late 19th century library furnished with oak bookshelves and velvet chairs stained with the aroma of fine cigars? What about a spring time pony ride through a field of elderberry blossom? While Taft street winery is possess neither pony nor library, they manage to conjure a grand collection of experiences using only the wizardry of exquisitely crafted wines. Their Pinots are beautiful (that's the library), their Chardonnay's are unique and delightful (that's the elderflower meadow), I won't even get started on the Medallion. The staff

Siri does not know where this place is! We circled and circled because she was about 400ft off on every turn to get there. We persevered! We got to the wine. It's cute. There's no inside seating so if it's rainy and stormy, you're going to get drenched. Bathrooms are clean and gender neutral single stalled. Wine was great! They do not serve any food but allow you to bring in whatever food you'd like. Flights start at $15. The staff was very friendly. I'd love to go back. Not much parking

I've always enjoyed their wines but they need to train their employees better. I was in conversation with my friend on the patio and was interrupted by a tasting room staff walking around with her knitting in hand. She proceeded to stay at our table for close to 20 minutes and my friend was too polite to stop listening to her. Her personal hardships became her topic of conversation and it ended up ruining my experience there. These are not the type of conversations to be engaging with guests who are looking to enjoy themselves. I left exasperated.

It's the perfect spot to bring your own picnic treats and pair with a glass of wine! I love coming with friends to socialize or to escape from a chaotic week with my book of the moment to this serene patio. I can't wait for my next glass. CHEERS

I've been to Taft Street twice -- once for a special event and once for wine tasting with friends -- and both times have been absolutely delightful!

First of all, the staff here are super welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed learning about their wines in a laidback, casual atmosphere. This is not a stuffy winery, which is refreshing!

Secondly, their wines are delicious! The winemaker is a woman (!!!) and she's doing a great job. On my recent tasting, I enjoyed the sauvignon blanc (so crisp!), the rose (of pinot noir), and all the reds I tried. Me and my friends loved the grenache so

I brought a larger group here a few weeks back over my wedding weekend and it was amazing! The ice cold rose hit the spot. Large open space with plenty of room for everyone. I especially enjoyed all the different flights and the option to create your own flights. Will definitely be back to this one!

This is review of the wine tasting area. It is a bit noisy from traffic. I liked the wine a lot. The owner/manager is attentive and friendly.

We love Taft: their taste-price ratio was so high we joined their Wine Club on our first visit (and it's our only wine club since we are thrifty)! We love that they let you chose between reds and whites, and their Pinot Noirs are some of the best in California. And they are so friendly they make you feel like family when you visit, and their wine club parties are something we look forward to 2x a year.
And we like that they are not pretentious at all and put the money into making amazing wine instead of fancy stuffy serving rooms. Nevertheless, their outside area is pretty enough to

We had a really nice, informative tasting here. I had the Chardonnay flight and loved all 3, very different, wines (and I ended up purchasing two of them!). I had also tasted the rose previously and had… really liked it. It is perfect for sipping outside on a warm summer evening! The staff were very gracious and also super-respectful of giving guests plenty space given the COVID crisis. The outside seating area is a large space so there is plenty of room between you and your neighbor. We'll be back!

Our first visit here was nothing short of success. We’re big fans of Route 116 vineyards and Taft did not disappoint! We celebrated my birthday with 4 fabulous tastings and left with half a dozen bottles. Great… people, fun patio space, delish wines and overall fantastic time.... and all during a pandemic! Already can’t wait to go back!

I absolutely recommend Taft Street Winery! After one or two visits, I became a member. They make you feel welcome and like you’re part of their family. They know me by name and that blows me away. They are… quick to respond to emails and answer any questions.
Their wine is amazing. I love their Rośe and their Skikos Pinot Noir! Their Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Grenache Blanc are amazing, too! (I always get a little of everything in my shipment because it’s too hard to pick a favorite!)
They have plenty of outdoor seating under the trees (or a canopy) making it easy

Taft has now re-opened! You'll need an appointment during COVID, but it was easy to book online. Taft did a great job a social distancing; every group had their own large table. The staff was very… knowledgeable, helped us select our flights, and brought the wines right to our table outside. They have tasting menus with only white wines, whites and roses, only reds, or a variety of types, which is great if you favor a type of wine.

I visited the winery on June 27 2020 - was an amazing host, providing wine pairing recommendations and great, socially distanced, service. We spent a couple of hours in the yard, enjoying a pic-nic… we brought and catching up with friends who we have not seen for months. It was great! Thanks Taft Street Winery for providing a safe space to socialize and drink great wine!

Taft Street is another great winery near the Russian river. The tasting room is not spectacular but the wines are. The room is clean and brightly lit. And we were blessed by the owner serving us personally.

Barrel Tasting Event with the Wine Road 2017.
The place was very simple. Got a little history lesson from my bartender. Where did they get the name?
Well the OG wine makers were making their wine in a garage in Oakland on Taft Street.
They have a picture of the founders and the garage on Taft Street. Interesting huh!

The place was fun. The outdoor area had games that you would play on your yard with friends. Looks like a wonderful place to hang out with your friends and just have a great time with wine too!

What did they have for their barrel tasting. It was new grapes to me: Skikos Pinot and

This was one of our stops during the Taste Sweet 116 the other day. Our first visit and not our last. A sweet little place with some very yummy wines as very reasonable prices. Their Rose was our favorite. And they have music outside soon - I can't wait to go back!

Went here to start the Route 116 wine club members appreciation event as my friend is a member here. Very casual & inviting tasting room! They pour quite a few wines on a daily bases. The tasting room staff is friendly & knowledgeable and very attentive to all customers no matter how busy they are.

They have outdoor seating and bocce ball on the grounds. Very peaceful & serene setting. The wines are very reasonably priced, their wine club is priced right & you can mix & match wines in your shipment. And they will be the first to tell you what wines are perfect to drink now
