Reichwage Winery aims to grow, produce, and bottle our own wines from our two estate vineyards in Western Sonoma County, Twin Hills and Mancini Ranch. Since 2014 we have been growing, producing, and bottling a small portfolio of wines, some well-known varieties like Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, and some rare like Gamay noir and Carignane.
Services
Our approach to wine-growing is modeled after the vigneron approach of cultivating one's own vineyards, producing and bottling one's own wine. Cover crops are rotated every year in order build organic matter, add different nutrients, and promote biodiversity in the vineyard. Tillage is minimized in order to build a healthy soil ecosystem, and to mitigate erosion and greenhouse gas emissions.
Whole cluster fermentation means the grapes don't go through a crusher-destemmer, rather we put the grapes in the tank whole, and unprocessed. This results in a slower fermentation, the addition of stem tannins to the mix. Sulfites are added to wine in small quantities (10-50 mg/L) in wine in order to slow the biological and chemical reactions which cause wine to oxidize and turn to vinegar.
The Twin Hills property's history dates back to the late 19th century, when the town of Sebastopol (then called Pine Grove) was first being established. Darrel Hurst purchased the property in 1942, establishing the Twin Hill Ranch, an apple farming and packing operation which the family ran until 2010.
This 16 acre vineyard was planted between 1922 and 1924 by Luca Mancini on the corner of Olivet & Piner Roads (west of Santa Rosa), and consists of mostly Zinfandel vines, although it is interplanted with a mix of different mixed black and mixed white varieties. Portions of the vineyard are planted to significant amounts of Carignane and a few different White Varieties which we pick separately.
Appointments are available beginning at 11:00 am, the final appointment of the day takes place at 2:30 pm. Guests are treated to a sit down tasting at tables on our winery patio, overlooking the Twin Hills Orchard and Vineyard. If you are an employee at a winery in Sonoma County, we are happy to offer a complimentary tasting to you.

Our very first winery in California was at Reichwage Winery & it was an absolutely wonderful experience. It was a pleasure spending time with the owner/winemaker Max. He shared a lot of the history of the vineyard; as well as the surrounding areas. We enjoyed each wine we tasted and can't wait to receive our wine order.

My fiancé and I absolutely loved this winery and this was our favorite in Sonoma. Max was great, made us feel welcome, and even gave us a small tour. It is a small winery but you could tell tell the wine made here was a passion for this family. They had more variety in types of wines than other winery we visited and we ended up buying a few bottles. Don’t skip this hidden gem. You will not regret it!

This wonderful, family-owned winery opened right before Covid hit and seems like an undiscovered gem. Like many newer wineries, the prices are more reasonable than larger, well-established wineries. However, the wines were delicious, particularly their Rhone blends, which I think will age well. My group and I also loved the sparkling cider made from apples grown next to the tasting patio. The views are lovely from the little hill the winery sits atop. Best of all, Max, the winemaker was on hand to talk about his wines -- another benefit of a smaller, less established winery. I can't wait to

If you like a small winery feel and a chance to talk with the wine maker directly, this is the winery for you! We had such a wonderful time tasting wines here with tons of conversation with Max and beautiful views of Sebastopol and their grape vines and orchards. There was such a broad range of wines to taste including a lovely hard cider at the end. Absolutely worth the trip and supporting such a wonderful family owned business!
