Dr. Kolia distinguished herself early on, becoming one of the first graduates of optometry in her native country of South Africa. In 1987 a fellowship from the college of optometry led her to the University of Houston, where she later completed her master's degree in Physiological Optics as well as her Optometry Degree.

Mostly sad and disappointed with how I was treated by this doctor. I had been to urgent care due to eye pain and they told me to go back and get an eye exam with my eye doctor. I had explained my situation to Dr. Fiona. I needed an eye exam to get cleared to back to work and to rule out that anything was happening to my vision. She did not make an effort to work me in as a walk in and she proceeded to tell me, and I quote, “ you’re reading too much into your situation.” I felt a lack of compassion, a lack of empathy and an attitude of dismissal from her for my situation. Honestly there are better optometrist throughout the Valley… surely you’ll find an Optometrist that doesn’t required you to speak with them over your own phone while in their office. This practice is absurd! After being a loyal client for countless years the disrespect and disappointing conversations with both the so-called optometrist and receptionist is enough for us to take our business, insurance and money to a quality establishment. This hasn’t been our 1st disappointing experience with this place. Yet we figured a previous experience could have been an off day for the staff member

I went in for an appointment for an eye exam about a month ago. Yes the Dr. does a phone exam first , but then she meets with you in the exam room. She went over my exam with me including the results from the retina test . The entire time she was really nice and professional as was the the rest of the staff. I ordered my eyeglasses thru a website using my prescription and I’m so happy I can see so much better.

Fiona is one of the most knowledgeable eye doctors I have ever been seen by . My daughter is also happy with the kindness she gives us , All of her employees greet you like family , I live in Jourdanton , a 3 hour drive , I first saw her in 2006 and my daughter in 2008 . I’ve used the services of Astoria Vision for several years, now. From my first experience, Dr. Fiona Kolia and her staff made me feel comfortable and special. Yes, I can find less expensive options, but those can feel impersonal and very, very processed. Some things are worth the cost and the individualized attention, punctual appointments and the welcoming atmosphere are worthwhile, in this case.

Um well the staff tried to trick me that a 12 pack of contacts had all 24 lens for a year supply (changed biweekly). I opened it and counted that there were only 12 and then they said I couldn’t return them LOL Also bought expensive glasses that they didn’t adjust to fit my head. Super super covid strict, the doctor does your exam on the phone.. 1-800-contacts was half the price 👍🏽 I’ve come here for years and it’s definitely gotten worse. The doctor won’t answer any questions. When I went back to get my glasses corrected they wouldn’t even let me in the store I had to beg to

The doctor calls your to do the exam in they other room. I got glasses and had exam in February well the prescription makes me feel dizzy and I can’t see far and close up I feel blurry! I called so they can fix my prescription. And they treated me like I was lying. During the exam the doctor ask if I was on any medication. Because my answers were the same she said. During the exam she kept showing me my old prescription and showing me my newer prescription. Instead of just doing a regular exam I felt like she was trying to see if I was lying. Trying to get me

Dr Kolia has been my optician for 20 yrs. I've left the valley and when I moved back I made sure that I followed up with her. I enjoy that Dr. Kolia does a great job in developing rapport with her patients, she has a great memory and likes to see how I'm doing. Great experience, friendly staff and welcoming environment. Dr. Kolia was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Great selection available as well. Plenty of safety protocols in place for that added peace of mind. We called in late in the day (on a Saturday no less) and they went out of their way to accommodate us! Great experience! All sanitization precautions were made through out my entire visit. Dr. Fiona even handled all the equipment remotely, which was really awesome. She always listens to my concerns about my prescription or glasses and immediately makes great suggestions. Definitely recommend. (Try to book on a weekday because almost all her Saturdays get filled for at least a couple of weeks)

I have sent numerous requests via their website and have not received any phone calls or emails to make an appointment. Also my niece tried making an appointment with them and also got no response. I guess they are too busy and make enough money to call back their clients (yes, I have been going here for 2 years, and have had 2 sets of glasses already) now they don't want to call back or make appointments.

I take my entire family to see Dr. Kolia (and even extended family). She has the latest equipment and is up to date with the latest developments in eye health. I do agree that the turnover in her staff is constant but she seems to have a knowledgeable staff at the moment. Don't hesitate taking your family there, you will be pleased in the long run.

I was happy to call and get an appt the same day. I should have known the customer service was bad when the receptionist hung up without saying "bye" "thanks" nothing! So I showed up at 10:45 for my 11 appt. filled out paperwork while the doctor was speaking to the receptionist. At exactly 11 a pest control guy came in and she left with him saying "I'll be back, just running home real quick"! Why would you leave to go home at the exact time my appointment is scheduled. No apology... clearly her time is more valuable than mine.

Wow! I am completely surprised by the negative reviews. I take my whole family here and have never had any negative experiences over the years. On the contrary, they have always been very helpful and professional. We have four children and the youngest has a lazy eye and the doctor is amazing with her. My youngest even fell in love with a display glasses case at one point and they offered to give it to her. The doctor remembers all of us and asks how all our children are when we drop by. I can't say enough good things about them!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
They messed up my contact lens order which delayed my contact lenses for weeks. I would have been fine with that since I still had a pair left to hold me over until then. However, the attitude that the staff gave me really pissed me off, for lack of a better phrase. They were very nonchalant and unapologetic about the errors they committed. They way that they spoke to me was very disrespectful, like it was my fault that they got the orders wrong. To top it off, the "doctor" (who performed such an amateurish exam on me) was very dismissive to me when she overheard
