For David Shelist, owner of the Denim Lounge, three qualities make up a great pair of jeans: comfort, durability and wash. However, in 2001, he was unable to find jeans that met all these criteria in his area of Chicago. So, like any good entrepreneur, David converted the basement of Madison & Friends (the children's clothing store he owned with his wife, Wendi) into the Denim Lounge.
From the newly-converted basement David began selling denim lines previously unavailable in the current market. His stock included several brands he discovered, and fell in love with, on a trip to New York City. Thirteen years later, the Denim Lounge is going strong.

A great store for high and good quality clothes. This small store is definitely one of the best store for their items. It is also clean and bright plus you can easily find items that might interests you because everything is literally organized. The staffs in here are friendly, accommodating, helpful and most importantly knowledgeable on every items inside. There is various selection of clothes that really has amazing designs and quality as well. Another thing is that prices may seem expensive when it is actually fair and reasonable and definitely cheaper than some high end stores. I seriously

What a wonderful experience here in Denim Lounge! I went here to find some pants that is perfect for me. I walk around and I am really amazed with the great atmosphere inside their store. Their place is so clean, nice, bright, and so huge. You can really enjoy your tour inside because you can see a lot of nice things they have, all of their items has a good quality, and all of it has a reasonable and fair prices. Stumbled upon this gem after a few years of living in the area! Met the owner who was super friendly and did not come across as too salespersony or pushy! He was so fun to chat with and super informative. The clothes were SO cute and there were great sales items available! Can't wait to go back for not only myself but to buy gifts as well!

I love the denim lounge! ALL of their items are great quality. My favorite pieces in my closet have come from here. They always have amazing tees and sweatshirts - some awesome Chicago and band designs. Can always find a cute Rolling Stones tee here.
My husband loves their socks! He gets a new fun design every time we go in.
The staff has always been fabulous and so helpful. They've helped me pick out items each time I've been in there. Highly recommend this local boutique!

I needed a full replacement of jeans. 2 years after my first child, I had gotten rid of everything that didn't fit and did not have any jeans. I walked in wanted at least 4-6 pairs, different cuts, washes and colors and was blown away by the service and selection. It's been a month since my trip there and I love every single one of the 6 pairs I bought. They were expensive, the cheapest pair was $75, but I am extremely happy with the results. I tried on at least 20 pairs and walked away with 6 that I adore.

At the store, they helped me right away. I said I was looking for good jeans, and that's what they found for me. We tried four different pairs - different washes and different brands. They explained the differences between them, and I nabbed the two I liked.
Their deal on higher end jeans is to take $15 off and then send you to their nearby tailor for a $15 leg adjustment. (The two options are both cleaners. And the first is cash only.)

We have done several client entertaining events at The Denim Lounge - one last night. They are soooooooooo helpful. they are amazing with pulling jeans and giving ideas and helping each and every guest find something great. They are also extremely accommodating with set up of food and drink and making it festive and fun.

5 stars for me means that a specialty store has really good selection and a sales team that you can connect with and that gives you really good advice.
I went to Denim Lounge today and had a really good experience. I liked that David had a feel for styles and we were able to hone in my preference (fashionable + straight-cut).
I walked out with two pairs of Hudson straight cut jeans, one darker that are more dressy and a lighter pair for every-day use.

When I am in Chicago, this is going to be a place I regularly visit. First of all, I went in there with the intention of casually browsing and ended up with some amazing purchases. The store manager, Jamie is outstanding. She is very personable and makes you feel extremely comfortable in trying on different items. She is also able to immediately assess your body type and identify products that will fit your body well.

I am a jeans all the time kind of gal so I was stoked to find that this place has jeans (no duh) and tops and accessories that make jeans okay for more than a football game.
The personalized service is incredible. The sales lady helped me find a couple of pairs in different cuts each with just the right fit. She was super knowledgeable and explained all the different brands, cuts, and fabrics... her help cut my trying on time at least by half.

Went there yesterday during lunch and the lady (guessing was the owner) was pissed I walked in there because her lunch was coming in. She then called to hold off while I looked around and tried stuff on. Went to the fitting room and the owner comment "oh don't worry they are holding my lunch". EXTREMELY RUDE and unnecessary comments. I even apologized for walking in. She even commented and said when I am hungry I am not very chatty and helpful. Then you are in the wrong business for retail!!!

I was exploring what I've decided may just be my future neighborhood (heart Roscoe Village) and decided to stop in the Denim Lounge since I've found some cute things in their downtown location.
As expected, they have a lot of jeans so if you're in the market for some denim this is the place. They also have some cute tees/tanks (ella moss, splendid, etc). There is even a small rack of baby/kids clothes, which makes sense since they also own Madison & Friends.*
I have more jeans in my closet right now than I know what to do with, but did have my eye on a few casual tops. However

I have shopped at Denim Lounge in Roscoe Village three times. My previous two experiences were not great, but after this last time I will not go back.
The "denim experts" were of no help at all. When I asked questions about my body type, how I didn't want jeans that stretched out quickly and asked for any suggestions the one sales woman offered one brand to try. Then she and the other "denim expert" went to the front of the store and talked to eachother while I came out of the dressing room on five different occasions to look for jeans. They offered no help or asking how

Due to a habit of only buying cheap jeans that fall apart, I desperately needed new jeans this season... so when daily candy sent me 25% off coupon for Halloween, I decided to bite the bullet and see what real jeans were all about.
The saleswoman/ manager was extremely friendly and helpful. $54 for a kids T shirt? Who are these people buying this excessive stuff for kids who don't know the difference and will grow out of it by next week?
I saw some great army pants, only $195 dollars. They weren't THAT great ! I love these T shirts..."fake tattered and worn" for $100. This store is insanely overpriced, but maybe the trixies with stroller set are finding a new outlet to spend baby daddy dollar in Roscoe Village. Upscale look for those who want to look bohemian but are really borgouise!
