You can find out more about these and other great resources provided by the City of Pleasanton and the Go Green Initiative.
Services
When Tony Macchiano and Bob Molinaro set up shop in 1969, they never dreamed that the small town of 12,000 would grow to over 83,000 in less than fifty years. They knew immediately, however, that this was the community in which they wanted to raise their kids and earn their living. Our 1965 side loader garbage truck has been restored and can now be seen at local events and parades.
Pleasanton residents have the ability to choose the appropriate size container for their garbage needs. Sizes available are 35 or 95 gallon carts. Service is provided on a weekly basis, Monday through Friday, except for Holidays (see Holiday information). Please do not place dirt, rock or toxic materials in your cart.
Each residential household may call and request up to two (2) used motor oil containers and a heavy duty zip lock bag for the recycling of up to two (2) used motor oil filters. On your regular collection day just place the container(s) at the curb and PGS will replace them with empties for your next use.
Or contact Pleasanton Garbage Service at: (925) 846-2042 for a free waste assessment and assistance on implementing a new organics collection program at your site. While the rules for properly disposing of garbage are the same for all Pleasanton residents, the handling procedures and receptacle setup can vary, depending on where you live.
Or contact Pleasanton Garbage Service at: (925) 846-2042 for a free waste assessment and assistance on implementing a new organics collection program at your site. PGS offers the following assistance and resources to help you set up and maintain an effective, convenient workplace recycling program.

I have used their transfer station for 20+ years living in all of the tri-valley cities. As a contractor and resident. They exceed in customer service, pricing, and getting in and out in a timely manor. If the price seems inconsistent sometimes, so what, it’s still 10 times cheaper than other places. Keep up the good work and light hearted attitude at the gate!

I am a residential customer and I just got a bulk pickup scheduled with Cheryl. (spelling might be wrong as I forgot to ask 🤷‍♂️) The best customer service I have experienced in the past year. She had to schedule it a bit out but for a free and incredibly convenient service I am overwhelmingly satisfied. This is especially true when I think back to when I scheduled this service in the past with other representatives. Such great customer service I want to call back just to chat!

No consistency on the way this place determines what to charge you. One guy charges $37.00 for a load one day and that same load the next by a different guy charges me $60.00. Great way to do business. BE CONSISTENT, bunch of B.S. !!

Displays charges a minimum of $30 for anybody that doesn’t live in Pleasanton. The receipt you get does not say anything about whom you paid to. It looks awfully suspicious and can only be assumed that they do not report cash. Do you even charge you for cardboard and recyclables. I’m surprise the surrounding cities don’t have similar service so we don’t have to deal with this entity.

I've never been to a dump that doesnt weigh they measure. I had a truck full of wood planks diff sizes. I thought it would be less than 50. Nope I was charged 90$ I played cash and when I asked for a receipt I was handed some random paper with no company name on it. That seems hella shady to me...

Pleasanton Garbage takes forever to refund your money (only $28). I cancelled the service in Nov. 2019 and by late Jan 2020 I am still waiting. I called in three times each time I was reassured the refund check is coming soon. The 2nd time I called I was told they are two months behind payment!!! What kind of a place is this??? Who is the regulatory agency for this gangster???

My service was great and prompt but the prices were outrageous!. I ordered the largest debris yard box they had for dirt, rock and concrete from a construction job we are doing there. I was quoted $480. Paid over the phone with a credit card. A month and half later I notice a huge additional charge of $719 on my bank card. When I question them about the additional charge they tell me the debris box was overfilled. Plus they charge $14 for a credit card fee. NOT HAPPY
