Maryland Judo & Jiu-Jitsu Academy was founded in 2010 under a different name, Team Maryland BJJ. Over the past few years, our academy has become more than just a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school. Our new youth competition Judo team is quickly becoming a factor on the national scene. Our Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program follows the teachings of Helio Gracie, one of the founders of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
The Maryland Judo & Jiu-JItsu Academy is located just off of Joppa Road in Towson, Maryland, in Baltimore County. Our 5,500-square-foot facility includes more than 3,000 square feet of mat space. It is the premier Judo and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu school in Baltimore County.

We follow the teachings passed down from Heilo Gracie, to Relson Gracie, to Stuart Ramos and do not deviate from this lineage. Team Maryland Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu follows a standardized curriculum and presents it in a format for all levels of students. In following these concepts there is no randomness to the Jiu-Jitsu techniques learned and newer students do not feel as though they are out of place or overwhelmed.
At Maryland Judo & Jiu-Jitsu we take learning self-defense seriously therefore we are not affiliated with any type of online university or program. Lessons are taught live onsite and overseen by a certified Relson Gracie Black Belt! The Maryland Judo & Jiu-Jitsu Academy is proud to be the first Relson Gracie Academy in the Baltimore area, and we are devoted to preserving the authenticity of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as taught by Relson.
Team Maryland BJJ offers a world-class Judo System developed by Olympian Jason Morris. The Jason Morris Judo System -- or "JMJS" -- is a curriculum derived from traditional Kodokan Judo with modern-day Olympic Judo techniques. Learn the techniques and tactics that made Jason Morris one of the most successful Judo players ever, and also one of the most prolific coaches in the world.

Get ready for a lengthy review... and believe me, there is even so much more I can type but I know there's only so much people will read before they stop... but I cannot rave enough about this academy! If you're looking to train at a jiu jitsu and judo academy, you will not have found a better place!
My son started coming here at the age of 10 five years ago. He had been practicing BJJ for about a little over a year at an affiliate school in Clarksville at the time and when we met the owner, Sensei Stuart Ramos, at a tournament, my son received an invitation to come visit his location in Towson

An incredible school with incredible instructors. Austin works wonders with the kids, expecting excellence while nurturing each student. The owner Stu, in addition to being an incredible, multiple award winning instructor, fosters a feeling of family with everyone who walks through the door. I wish I could give a 6th star for this school.

This is the only place to train in Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo in the entire D.C., Maryland, Norther Virginia area. Stuart Ramos the owner and head instructor is not only a black belt in both arts, he is an experienced competitor, and he has the ability to pass on his wisdom to young and old alike in a way that makes then want to learn. There is no substitute for quality and that is what you get at Team Maryland BJJ .
