We provide in-office counseling sessions, following safety measures (masks, social distancing, hand sanitizer). We also provide Telehealth* counseling sessions as needed or as requested, using the HIPAA compliant platform called doxy.me. We understand that your privacy is of utmost importance, so if you would feel more comfortable you can request one of our counselors that live out of the local area.

Our counselors have counseled many people who have experienced a traumatic event or significant negative event that resulted in having difficulty coping, depression, hopelessness, despair, and emotionally feeling stuck to move forward. We often don't realize just how much our past affects our present.
Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is an innovative, effective and a natural approach for emotional regulation. Neurofeedback is a form of EEG biofeedback based on the electroencephalogram. It is a scientifically proven brain-based technique that helps clients balance and normalize their brain function and body regulation.
Payment for counseling services are due and payable in the office at time of service, including insurance deductibles. Accommodations can be made for clients requiring additional paperwork from a therapist (i.e., ADHD assessments, treatment records, etc.)
We can submit client medical records directly to Social Security for clients requesting Social Security Disability benefits (medical release form required: Authorization for Scheduling, Billing, and Payment Purposes).However, Hoxworth Counseling Services is not legally authorized to assist in filling out or submitting questionnaires to Social Security.

Bret is actively engaged as a privately practicing Master's Level Psychologist with over 20 years of counseling experience in the mental health field, including church-based pastoral care. He earned his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University, focusing on relationship and family issues.

I started counseling at Hoxworth about 3 years ago. I suffered from complex trauma and severe anxiety. After hard work doing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization) and LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) therapy, I finally found true healing in my life. I went from barely surviving to thriving.

Hoxworth counseling is absolutely amazing last year when we began to go my little girl was struggling with anxiety after going to LENS therapy she has done a total 360 grades are amazing and her mindset has changed for the best!! The workers go above and beyond for everyone who walks through that door my fiancé also has benefited from going he’s doing amazing and also hitting a 1 year sober mark and doing amazing if it wasn’t for hoxworth I don’t know where we would be
