Deborah C. Bernacki founded Happier At Home and began serving the community in Rochester, NY in 2007. It was Debbie's own family experience caring for her mother that affirmed the need to improve upon in home care. The life-changing experience came when her mother, Angela Marcello, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, brain cancer, at age 64.
Debbie's passion for senior care and elder care started at a young age. At 15, she volunteered at a hospital in Rochester, NY. The experience confirmed her calling to help others and work in the medical field. Debbie holds a Bachelor's degree in nursing, advanced education in geriatric care management, legal nurse consulting and life care planning.
Happier At Home provides service in many settings. We know that individuals' circumstances are unique, so we come to you no matter where you need us! We regularly provide care in private homes and apartments, independent & assisted living communities, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers.

Happier at Home has been a great employer for me and a terrific agency for its clients. I am retired and needed something to occupy my time. HaH has fulfilled all of my needs. A flexible schedule and good communications. I have also seen their professional demeanor and compassion with clients. The team at Happier at Home is fantastic. Our family has gotten into a great routine with the care of our father. The communication and flexibility of the aids has helped us greatly. Happier at Home has been a life saver for my dad and me. He lives in NY and I'm the only child, living in the midwest. Dad's caregiver is just wonderful, a caring person with attention to detail -- my eyes and ears, keeping an eye on my dad between my visits. The continuity of care from Happier at Home is wonderful. They are very flexible, readily contacting me and making changes in dad's best interest as needed. The communication with the director is easy and open and so very reassuring. Happier at Home is like having a sibling living locally!
