The Sugarcreek Veterinary Clinic was established in 1957 by Drs. William C. Edgar and D. Gene Miller at 303 South Broadway, Sugarcreek, Ohio. In 1985, Dr. Rick L. Daugherty purchased the company from Drs. Edgar and Miller, who then retired. Dr. James J. Honigford joined the company in 1990 post graduation from The Ohio State University and became a partner with Dr. Daugherty in 1992.
