Services
Winkel Funeral Home offers many different services. Our training and experience have prepared us to help, to reassure, and to understand when a family faces the loss of a loved one. We are here to replace confusion with calm, doubts with certainty, and questions with answers. Here, one finds a quiet gentleness in an atmosphere of dignity, efficiency, and trust.
Pre-planning of funeral arrangements is available, with the option of pre-funding. After considering the options at a non-stressful time, your choices can be recorded and kept on file so that your family will know your service preferences. A further step, funding your choices at today's prices, will guarantee that the merchandise and services you select will be provided at no additional cost.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions by young parents. Perhaps because of their own struggle with the loss. Overwhelmingly, parents that have allowed their child to attend viewing or funeral services have been surprised at the positive experience. Children want to be an active participant in the family and some parents, by trying to protect their child, exclude them.
Caring for yourself is not selfish. The period of recovery is different for every person. There is no timetable for grief, so don't compare yourself with others who have lost loved ones. Your life has changed and healing in your own way is important for the health of your mind, body and spirit. It's normal for some days to be better than others.
The deceased worker must have credit for work covered by Social Security, ranging from 1 1/2 to 10 years depending on his or her age at death. A widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled), or at any age if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled. A divorced widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled) if the marriage lasted 10 years, or if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled.

I highly recommend Winkel's to meet your family's needs during times of loss and stress. This family operation provides excellent customer service, readily answers questions in person, on the phone, and by email, and coordinated well with an out of state funeral service. Winkel's Funeral Home is a ministry to the community as well as a local business.

Ben and Amy, our family can’t thank you enough for the love and kindness you showed us in handling all the arrangements for my father-in-law’s services. It has been an emotional and at times almost impossibly difficult couple of weeks, and your professionalism and attention to detail have made such a difference. I truly don’t have words to express how grateful we are. Thank you so very much.

My wife and I decided to purchase our Cemetery Marker. I worked with Ben at Winkel Funeral Home. I looked around locally and then we met with Ben. I looked at a book from Patten Monument. I remember their commercials from the early 1960’s on the radio. After viewing the options and being such a nice and caring man, Ben called Chuck Cushman, the Sexton and got the info needed for location. We were given a copy of how it would look in 10 minutes and contacted 2 days later by Patten Monument. Don’t leave it for the kids to do. Go see Ben and enjoy the Professional and Friendly service.
