Joined in 2016. Never been to a health club but I felt comfortable here as there are people of all ages and fitness levels. They have just about any type of equipment you need. I recently had knee surgery and two and rotator cuff repairs. I signed up with 'Patrick' a trainer when I joined and he has been great. Still working with him. He really helped me recover, regain my strength and range of motion. The crappy company that managed the trainers, Metabolic fitness, went out of business so now the trainers are independent. This is the second time I joined the club When I was here last year all treadmills were working It's a different story this time There are 15 machines were the elevation is not working The scale in the men's locker room has not worked in months so there is no way we can check our progress I do give credit to the staff always cleaning and pleasant to help the customer The owner or management needs to wake up and repair and replace as needed

Am glad I got out of my membership when I did. Poor management is the start of this gym's issues.
Broken machines, sweat puddles, dirty bathrooms but don't worry- you get a free t-shirt if you let them sucker you into signing up.
Zip Fitness used to be THE place to go but over the years, my goodness, it has fallen to the ground (nearly literally fallen).

The owner Chris Wilson has become a slumlord of this health club. The Round Lake beach facility continues to go downhill. Chris Wilson will not allow parts to be ordered to fix equipment or use outside services to repair equipment - much of the repairs are not with the scope of the in house repair guy. Lose your self respect and your customers and you have lost everything. If you can't take pride in your ownership sell it and let someone who has pride and self dignity own it.

They have you pay by automatic withdraw.
It must have been when my credit card expired I didn't remember zip was getting automatic payments. So they stopped getting their money and instead of a phone call or letter they sent me to collections. I have (had) perfect credit. They messed that up for over a year. I had stopped going because of the facility and was not aware they needed a new source for payment.
In order to cancel you have to physically go in there

Been a member almost since it opened, had their gold membership. Few weeks ago went in to downgrade to the basic and to add my wife to a basic membership so she could go on her own instead being my guest. They wanted to charge me for downgrading and pay 3 months ahead. Oh plus the joining fee!!! They could do nothing becuase that is their policy, it's not about the money but that I have been a member for 5 years or more and they could not wave the fees!!! I told them that I was going to cancel my membership and my wife was not going to join and they did not care. I even sent them an email

This gym has gone down a lot over the last few years. I joined in 2013, loved it. I recently left due to Patrick who is a "trainer" at that gym. He's a rude, cocky trainer who actually isn't even certified. I've gone through multiple trainers at this gym, the first few were great. My third one stopped showing up, than I got stuck with Patrick for 2 sessions and ended up walking out and going else where. I joint a CrossFit bootcamp in Grayslake which has been nothing short of amazing. I still go back to zip some mornings for cardio, but man that place has gone down. Employees

Great price choices and I love that every time I come in to workout I am left alone. No gawkers, not too crowded, and nice clean facilities. Only reason for not giving it a full 5 is that sometimes if I have a question the staff at the desk isn't overly friendly. Some are some aren't. Not a big deal since once you're signed up you don't need much except to scan your pass.

I joined this club early on, soon after it opened. It is a no nonsense gym, has tons of cardio equipment, and has quality name brand weight machines. It has a gym and a good space for abdominal workouts as well as a free weight area. The locker room has showers and dressing rooms. All I need. Perfect! And, it is only $12.99 a month; so affordable!

·Includes tanning (which has always been clean), bringing another person for free, going to any location
·Big locker room that is pretty clean
·Lots of cardio equipment and a fair amount of strength training machines
·Pretty clean overall- I have seen them cleaning the machines so that's a plus in my book
·Plenty of floor space to do your own thing

I've had no issues with this gym. It's a great price and you get what you pay for, and I think you actually get more than what you pay for. It's a big space with a lot of machines, and the women's bathroom has always been very clean. The hydro massage and tanning stalls are a nice touch, and I think it's worth it to be a gold member to use them. I use that hydromassage bed almost every day.
The only reason Zip isn't perfect is because I wish the hours were extended a bit. Other than that I think it's great and I highly recommend!

The Round Lake Beach location is hosting another "Fit Camp" session starting 1/26, Pre-registration is required. In the past this was called "boot camp" and it cost $99 in advance found out the hard way, there wasn't any refunds. If you do not know what this involves ask questions and make sure to ask about a refund policy in case you pay, try it and find out this isn't for you!

I really like this gym despite some of the reviews. They have lots of cardio machines, huge locker rooms, a big stretching area and lots of tvs. People complain about the staff but I haven't had a problem with them. They're friendly when you greet them at the door. It's a place to just work out and get out. I love the cleanliness of this place the most. Highly recommended. I know a lot of people have issues with gym contracts and although I haven't had an issue with this place, I recommend getting their groupon deal. No contracts! :)

My problems started after I signed up with them. The girl told me one amount and then when I got my bank statement I was charged a lot more than she told me . It took me 2 weeks and the threat of police for fraud to get the manager to call me back and take care of the situation. The manager was rude, argumentative, and condescending.
Regardless of that frustration I figured I'd try them. They say they offer classes, no they don't. It's a screen and a video. I could do that in my home. The red headed girl behind the front desk was always rude
