Here in Pittsfield, MA at the very center of The Berkshires is a 45-room boutique hotel that celebrates character in every way. We've used a modern lens to honor the historic buildings we call home, so while whispers of the past echo through the corridors, the vibrant spirit of the hotel draws its life force from the present.

The Berkshires are a special place, filled with artists, artisans, and purveyors who thrive on entrepreneurial spirit and originality. Deep, historic roots can be traced to this region, and yet it's laced with a refreshingly modern vibe in its dining, culture, design, and industry.
Services
If you've ever been to The Berkshires, you know that it's not a tiny village in Massachusetts. Driving from "North County" to "South County" (that's local lingo, by the way) can take nearly 90 minutes just because of sheer geography.

Located on North Street in Pittsfield, we're right smack in the center of The Berkshires.which means when you stay with us, you're never more than 30-40 minutes away from absolutely everything the region has to offer.Owned by Berkshire residents David and Laurie Tierney, Hotel on North is a celebration of character in every expression.
Each one of our Berkshires hotel rooms has a different footprint, but they all share a spirit of individual design. Locally crafted, handpicked furniture and dcor draws out the distinctive character of every room, and on return visits, you'll enjoy the pleasure of discovering a new room each time. Accents of modern whimsy sit naturally beside Victorian sensibility.
Need rooms for your group to Pittsfield? Hotel on North is an ideal place for business groups, family reunions, multi-family vacations, social events, and more. We offer attractive group accommodation rates, and your group can gather in versatile spaces for meetings, parties, and meals. Whether you're arriving by motorcoach, intimately-sized bus, or groups of cars, we'd be delighted to have you all stay with us here in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
If you forgot anything at home (like a crate, blanket, or water bowl), have your humans ask the front desk; I have a stash here. 2. The best place to nap is in the LivingRoom where it's sunny; and your humans can work and have their coffee or cocktail. You can ask EVERY staff member for a treat; I trick them all and usually get one from each-and sometimes get belly rubs.
With 3,000 square feet of versatile meeting space - including a dramatic, high-ceilinged reception hall graced with original exposed brick and natural light, and several intimate meeting spaces nestled into each floor - the Hotel on North welcomes meetings, banquets, parties, weddings, and celebrations of all kinds to Pittsfield, MA.

Some other reviewers have said, "Pittsfield is not where you really want to stay when you're in The Berkshires." I have lived in Southern Berkshire County for 23 years, so I know the truth of that. However, if you do have to stay in Pittsfield as I just did you can do no better than Hotel on North. It's funky, unique, and you're in the center of...umm...everything? Ok, while Pittsfield may not have the elegance of other Berkshire locations it does make up for it in...umm...urban funk. Sure, you'll see some unsavory types in the area, and some storefronts are closed

Pros: spacious rooms and bathrooms! If you have kids, you can easily fit a stroller and crib. If you're traveling with anyone who is wheelchair bound, the wheelchair can easily move around in the bathroom!Love the aesthetic of the building and the rooms! There's ample, free parking behind the hotel.
Cons: they're short on staff so our room wasn't ready until after 3PM. While the bed is comfortable the pillows were the absolute worst!! I ended up sleeping without a pillow!

While the neighborhood is a bit odd the hotel is lovely. Our room is beautiful and well appointed. The hotel is clean and beautiful and the staff lovely. Sorry we missed the restaurant which was closed due to COVID but with the rest of our experience, I imagine the restaurant would be fabulous too. Five stars.

By far THE BEST HOTEL IVE STAYED AT. If you really don't care for a pool and care more about the amenities and relaxing, this is one for the books.

The rooms are AMAZING! The bathrooms stylish! The neighbor is pretty dead due to COVID but some signature places to eat walking distance.

We stay here for business and it's perfect for that.

Just did an overnight trip to getaway. Normally, we stay at Red Lion Inn when in the Berkshires but decided to switch it up due to the RLI being crazy expensive on a Saturday. I guess everyone else had the same thought. Hotel was very 'covid-minded' which was great ... hand sanitizer, mask enforcement and though they mentioned that the hotel was busy, we hardly saw anyone else the whole time we were there. Free parking is nice ... hotels in small cities tend to drive revenue by adding un unnecessary charges but we were pleased not have to pay parking or resort fees here. The value for

This hotel is interior design GOALS. Everything on my weekend getaway here was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The common area was perfect for taking a morning meeting when I didn't want to disrupt my partner's sleeping in. Staff were very friendly and professional. An added unexpected bonus was free electric vehicle charging in their lot!

If we could give the Hotel on North more than 5 stars, we would without hesitation. They were a lifesaver for our fall wedding! We initially planned an outdoor ceremony across town- but three days before, we knew it was going to rain all day and had no idea what to do. I called the Hotel on North, and within hours, Kerri (their amazing event coordinator) helped us plan our intimate ceremony (socially distant!), set up a videochat so we could view the space, and completely saved the day! The day of, when I (the bride) didn't know where to wait, they even let us use an occupied hotel room so

I really can't say enough great things about Hotel on North! My BF and I wanted to take a last-minute trip to the Berkshires for our anniversary and it was hard to find a place to stay that would accept our dog. I called Hotel on North and the manager, Kerri, was SO wonderful in accommodating us and even giving us the most amazing room to celebrate our anniversary! The hotel itself is adorable with an awesome boutique vibe and tons of character. We stayed in a few different rooms (because of our last minute booking, which we were fine with) and they were all HUGE! All very clean, everyone

I stayed at the Hotel on North in September 2020.
Great rooms - each one unique. We used the Atrium Room for a small gathering. It is a beautiful space. The staff was very accommodating even opening the game room for us late at night. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel on North to anyone visiting the Berkshires.

This is the coolest hotel in the entire Berkshires! Gorgeous little Boutique Hotel and has the friendliest, nicest staff. (Kerri at the front desk was wonderful)

Right on Main Street and near lots of cute shops and restaurants. Their own restaurant is fabulous too.

Plus if you need something printed in a jiffy they'll do that too!

This is really a great place! So happy they are open for business.

I found myself in town for work and ended up staying at Hotel On North for 2 nights on a video shoot.

Without being too verbose, this is a hotel truly deserving of a 5-star rating. The building is beautifully styled and remodeled, my room was immaculate and well designed, but the best part hands down had to be the service.

Every one of the staff exuded a kind/warm demeanor and made my stay notably comfortable!

Just dropping a review as a thank you to the employees. Hope to see them again the next time I find myself their beautiful tiny town.

Very cool space - loved our hotel room - which was a library suite

PROS

1 - LIBRARY SUITE WAS AMAAAAAZING - true sense of the word!
Imagine a HUGE room with bookshelves on 3 walls brimming with a wide selection of books/classics/cookbooks/biographies/autobiographies and more. A corner suite with super-high ceilings and a comfy king bed,

2 - PRIVATE Parking available behind the hotel

3- GOOD RESTAURANT onsite

CONS

1 - Front desk staff was OK - not particularly welcoming, not super knowledgeable about the area - couldn't suggest restaurants (it's OK I have YELP!) - but didn't

We had our wedding at Hotel on North in Shire Hall. It was a beautiful ceremony. Everything was easy to plan and schedule. Pricing was reasonable. The best part: the food for the reception was AMAZING. We cleaned our plates!!!

I highly recommend Hotel on North. It's a lovely venue, the staff is great, the rooms are comfortable, the food is amazing.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel on North!!! The hotel decor is really lovely; modern meets and antique.

The room was great, comfy bed, quiet, and again the decor! It is a lovely hotel!

The staff was helpful, flexible and accommodating. They let us check-in early.

And the food at the hotel restaurant was simply delicious!!! The menu felt a tad limited in terms of food options.... But don't get me wrong there is something for everyone on the menu.

Breakfast, Brunch, Dinner, and Drinks were all amazing! I would recommend this hotel and restaurant to anyone.

What a great local gem

Never been to this area and i was traveling for work, this just happened to be the closest hotel to where i needed to travel to in the morning. Spent two amazing nights and now I hate all other hotels. An amazing updated room that someone managed to feel like i time traveled into a weird time where we have large LED TVs, brick walls, and old rickety hardwood floors. Seriously felt like i was in the 1900s, but in a super classy way. Not in a "we haven't updated this hotel since the 1900s" way. The room was way too big for one person but really, who can complain

Definitely not the most economical lodging option in the Berkshires, but Hotel on North is adorable! I was scared off the other more wallet-friendly hotel options in the area, given their horrible reviews, so since I was on vacation, I decided to splurge for a night and I'm so glad I did! The most compelling reason to stay at Hotel on North is that it's around the corner from the Barrington Stage Company theatre, which was my target destination to attend a show.

Room- lovely details (dimmer switch and multiple wall hooks (9) in the bathroom), robes, original looking wood floors, water

Loved this hotel!

I'm soo a fan of boutique hotels. This one is brand spanking new, at just over a year old, yet still has tons of charm and character.

In the lobby, the exposed brick, unique light fixtures, and comfy leather sofas really create a homey atmosphere. I understand that each room is unique in its layout and furnishings, yet maintains the same modern artsy feeling throughout.

We ate at the hotel restaurant, which was mediocre, some standouts being the deviled eggs and ricotta balls. It is definitely pretty convenient to have it be so accessible though, since that area tends
