Rafael and his wife Ana established USA Carpet and Vinyl in 1994. Both emigrated to the USA from El Salvador in the 1980's with a hope of a better life. Ana worked tirelessly cleaning houses in Marin County while Rafael worked various different jobs to make ends meet. From working as a valet parking attendant in San Francisco, to working as restaurant busboy, Rafael eventually found a talent in flooring.
In 1985 Rafael began his career as a flooring installer at a local flooring company in Contra Costa County. After almost 10 years working for a company, Rafael decided to start his own flooring business. With the little money that Rafael and Ana saved, they were able to open Rafael's Carpet & Lino, a small boutique style flooring store located in San Pablo, California.

There are many forms of vinyl flooring. Resilient Sheet Vinyl, Vinyl Composition Tile, Luxury Vinyl Planks and Luxury Vinyl Tiles are some to name a few. While resilient sheet vinyl has been around for quite some time, luxury vinyl planks and tile have recently become extremely popular. LVT and LVP easily get mixed up with laminate floors because of the ability to be able to perform a floating floor installation using a glueless click-method.
Laminate provides the "look" and "feel" of real wood, tile, and stone at an affordable price. Laminate flooring consists of 4-layers. The first is the melamine backing layer, high density fiber core board made of composite wood, a printed photo-realistic image of either wood, tile, or stone, and a melamine or urethane wear layer.

I went to USA carpet because they are a small, local, family owned business in my neighborhood. I got quotes from several places, including Home Depot (which was ridiculously overpriced!). Although USA carpets was not the least expensive, the salesman (Rafael) made me feel comfortable and confident that they would do a good job.
Well, they didn't do a good job. They actually did a GREAT job! Installers were on time (actually they were early), they were professional, attentive and easy to talk to. I felt so comfortable with these guys that I ran some errands while they were installing

We bought our first home and had 30 days to remodel. I couldn't find a reliable carpet installer, and my last ditch effort I just googled carpet installers. USA carpet came up. I called and that afternoon they came to my home measured, and brought carpet samples. A few hours later I received my detailed, affordable quote! THAT SAME DAY! Top notch costumer service. I am so happy with my newly carpeted, bedrooms. 10/10 Would recommend :)

I was a challenging client with lots of questions; they did a great job! Got my apartment evaluated by Rafael Sr. and then spoke on the phone with Rafael Jr. to understand the price quote better. They were fairly priced and worked efficiently (3 workers at one time on a Saturday). I got three bedrooms, one hallway and living room re-carpeted. Thanks for a job well done!

This company is a rip off we are very unhappy with the quality of carpet they delivered and they don't care we can feel the subfloor thru the carpet and pad .they refuse to do anything about it take you business some where else!!!!! Today is May 23,2018 recently USA Carpet and I Joe Pino have filed a claim with Mohawk Carpets and USA Carpet returned most of my money I feel they handled my claim in a timely fashion. Mohawk Corp. Told me bad information and delivered a faulty carpet and pad.

This small mom and pop owned carpet store made my shopping experience excellent! It is hard to find a flooring contractor now days that actually tries to save customers money but most importantly looking to help their clients. They did tons of extra work to make sure the job was done right at no extra cost! I was referred by a good friend of mine and I was able to find what I was looking for and found they were almost 30% less than almost every other store I used in the past. I own multiple properties and flooring is something I need constantly. I will only be using Usa Carpet for my flooring needs

Fast: They came over to provide a quote and got the carpet installed the next day even though they had a couple large projects ongoing that week. They squeezed me into their scheduled because they understood that I was on a time crunch.

Super responsive, and efficient team! I spoke with Raf about a carpet and a room needing said carpet installed. Having most of the materials ready and no one to install it, Raf and his crew answered the call with haste and precision. They were able to the task way sooner than I expected and made my family feel very comfortable during the process (I was work).
