Services
Our clinical team is dedicated to helping patients achieve or enhance their psychological wellbeing. Treatment programs are designed to help individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship difficulties, addictions, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and Schizophrenia. We offer a range of services including initial psychological evaluation, individualized therapy and medication management.
We have a behavioral health co-management agreement in place with Insight Family Center to whom we refer our patients. Insight Family Center offers mental health and substance abuse therapy services. They provide an array of strategies, interventions, and services individualized to assist with needs, whether treating the single person or the family as a whole.
Dr. Afaque Akhtar is a well-trained and passionate expert in internal medicine, with a practice in the Premier Health Center in Fuquay-Varina. And he often takes his wisdom and practice to other locations, such as nursing homes, and has a well-earned reputation as a passionate speaker about the meaning and the practice of vibrant good health.
While he is grateful for specialized care for his patients when needed, Dr. Afaquue Akhtar, of Premier Health Center in Fuquay Varina, specifically chose the field of internal medicine because it often addresses the medical problems of my patients in virtually every aspect of their lives.

One of Dr. Afaque Akhtar's principal healing modalities will not be found in a little black bag. It is kind and relentless repetition. An internal medicine specialist, Dr. Akhtar's practice is the Premier Health Center in Fuquay Varina. I repeat for these young patients, as often as necessary, that their diabetes is not a disease, it's a syndrome.

I have been a patient of Dr AKHTAR for seven years and have had really bad arthritis in my knees. He is a very thorough and has kept me healthy all these years!!! I have had the HA knee injections and let me tell you the results have been amazing. I had very bad pain in both knees and I am out of pain!!! No surgery!I definitely recommend this practice to everyone... currently taking new patients!! Regenerative medicine is the way to go!!

They have reached out to my mother and resolved the issue. I was Really really upset about my mothers treatment but I'm glad to hear that it has been smoothed out. It was a miscommunication due to being understaffed. Hopefully they get well staffed and are back to giving exceptional care.
Where do I start. Please please please, for your own sanity and the sanity of your loved ones do not go to this place. I'm not sure Dr. Actar really cares about his patients at all or even knows his patients for that matter. He tells patients to stop taking meds all willy nilly as if its vitamins

I will not be going back after the first visit.
The ladies at the desk and nurses are friendly and helpful, however, I think the center is not well organized. Dr. Akhtar was also extremely impersonal and did not meet expectations. I only visited here because I had to get another referral for a seizure that had previously occurred. I had already seen another doctor and gotten a referral to the neurologist. Due to bureaucratic issues with insurance, the neurologist could no longer accept the referral unless it was from my designated medical home (Premier Health Center).

I began seeing Dr. Aktar nearly one year ago, and although there have been a few instances that I felt were considerably major negative effects on my medical care, he and the team who work in office were incredibly helpful and quick to help solve those issues. Even with those major instances, I still give 5 stars and would give more if possible.

The front desk staff isn't the best.. And that's being generous. There have been numerous times I have had to call in one day leaving messages, never with a return call, to try to schedule an appointment. Once I'm there, the doctor usually sees me fairly quickly.
Update: Record keeping is awful and they order unnecessary tests to be run. The staff doesn't care.

A 1 because 0 is not allowed. The doctor is horrible! Rude, arrogant, mean! I moved to NC with 10 yrs of medical issues. New all my info and was doing what my previous doctors said. He told me I did it all wrong, didn't believe my diagnosises (even though I had surgery 2 months prior) and before it was over told me to find another doctor for my PCP because I had too many medical issues!!! Like I wasn't going to do it anyway. Worst doctor I have ever met and I've been through a lot!
