We were there first week of January. Took two of my grand kids to look for gems. We like to look for stones on the beach, so I thought this would be fun. We didn't find anything but we had fun being there and trying. It was a bit chilly and some parts were muddy, but the sunshine helped. The visitor center is very informative and helpful. We brought are own tools, shovels, rakes and sifters and our chairs. Took a break and had lunch in our car, it was windy and chilly and gave us time to warm up a bit before heading back out.

My family had fun digging for diamonds. We even camped here. The campground was very convenient and made it easy to walk to the digging site. The park was very clean and peaceful. We were traveling through and made reservations, we didn’t have to make reservations weeks or months in advance. I would recommend this place to family or friends.

This is a pretty good experience and one where you can check the bucket list on searching for real diamonds in a public, open field. I was debating between a three and four star and landed on four star because of the experience. They have lots of items for sale including shovels and buckets, but you can also rent a lot of equipment. Most of the equipment is around $5 to rent, but there's a security deposit of around $20 on top of that, that you get back when returning the item. The place is pretty open, but can be back breaking if you're staying out there for a long time. Lots of rocks and gems

There's so much ground to pick through! We didn't find anything more valuable than quartz but my kids are rockhounds so they were happy with that. It's kind of a tedious process to dig/haul/sift and although it is possible to discover a diamond on the surface of the field, it's hard to do. There isn't a bell or anything to announce when someone finds a diamond so you really don't know until you check the bulletin board next to the tool rental window. We went on NYE for '22, it had rained a few days prior, a rainstorm was set to move in at closing, and a freeze was on it's heels, but we had a perfectly

This is a fantastic place to spend the day if you adjust your expectations. Chances are you're not going to walk out of the park as a newly-minted millionaire (but it's fun to dream, right?).
Tickets are pretty reasonable at $10 each. There is a gift shop and diamond exhibit on your way in. You can rent tools but you have to pay an outrageous deposit (I understand why they do it though). For 2 people, it was almost $100 between us: 2 buckets, 2 screens, and a shovel. You will get the deposit back at the end of your visit sans rental price.

We didn't stay this time to mine/dig for diamonds, but did enjoy the River trail. It was really nice to see the paved ADA trail for over half the trail. The 2 fitness spots were nice as well. The placards along the trail were some of the best I've seen, and were very informative. Loved the footprint and leaf ones! The river view was nice, but wished there was a dock or pier to go out on. The non-paved part was really nice too, like you're a kid playing in the woods! Wear repellent for sure. Very easy & quick trail. Walked the short wildlife viewing trail as well. Didn't see any wildlife, might
