Services
The Bryce Funeral Home was founded in 1917 at 2188 Fifth Avenue in the living quarters of the late Lowell H. and Evelyn Merrick Bryce. Troy possessed innumerable funeral homes in those days of 75,000 population, with much competition.

However, in 1936, Lowell purchased 1820 Fifth Avenue in downtown Troy, an authentic brownstone with iron fenced courtyard, providing his growing clientele a large mahogany paneled parlor and one of the first casket display rooms in Troy.A second brownstone at 1818 afforded an additional parlor when L. Merrick Bryce, Lowell's son, joined the firm in 1947.
At Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., we take great pride in caring for our families, and will work tirelessly to provide you with a beautiful, lasting tribute to your loved one. In addition to the services we offer, you will receive an online memorial that you can share with family and friends. While honoring your loved one is our top priority, we also want to help you through this difficult time.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. L. Craig Bryce, grandson of the founder, Lowell H. Bryce, was fortunate to work with his father, Merrick for 30 years and with his mother, Helen.
To begin funeral planning, whether it be for pre-need or at-need the first decision should be to consider the final disposition, Burial or Cremation. This is a personal choice and one that may take time to consider. The one thing you should remember is that you can have visitation and a funeral with both types of disposition.
Cremation offers many different options in services, selections, personalization, memorialization and final placement of the cremated remains. In fact, there are actually more considerations involved in cremation than there are for burial. However, these considerations need not be overwhelming and your funeral professional can help you understand the choices.

There are not enough words to describe our family’s satisfaction with how Bryce Funeral Home helped our family celebrate the life of our mother and grandmother. Beyond being exceptionally professional, Craig was incredibly attentive to every detail and request of our family, including helping us create a service that fit our family’s needs and… reflected what an incredible woman our mother and grandmother was. Before she passed, my grandmother had expressed wanting to be at Bryce’s; however, due to a service already scheduled for Sunday/Monday, we were worried this wouldn

Craig Bryce could not be more helpful, professional and thorough when it comes to preplanning a funeral. He carefully reviews all decisions that have to be made and allows the individual to choose how much or how little of those details they wish to plan ahead. I can tell you from personal experience it is a HUGE comfort and stress reliever for… the family of the loved one that has died to have all these decisions made and the loved ones wishes made known before they pass. When my husband recently passed there were still last minute details to be decided and Craig was very compassionate

For over 50 years my family has trusted DeGraaf - Bryce for services. My mother, father, grandmother, and now my son’s Fiancée Abby L Wright have been taken care of.
We contacted them and David called my son and I back. He was very professional. Everything we talked about, decisions we made were taken care of. When you are treated with respect and concern it matters especially when you have to make decisions about the deceased love one.
They are in West Sand Lake which is convenient to us in Averill Park. We highly recommend DeGraaf-Bryce. Thanks, Dawn
