Leonard Orthodontics began when Dr. Thomas Leonard opened our North Andover location in 1974. Soon after, in 1976, the Amesbury location was opened. As our practices continued to grow, the father-son team became a reality when Dr. Jeffrey Leonard joined his father in 1998. Dr. Jeffrey Leonard took over the practice in 2008, and we built and opened our newest location in Andover, MA.
Recently, with the sudden loss of Dr. Jeffrey Leonard, his wife who is also an orthodontist, Dr. Mary Angelic Gangoy has made a commitment to our patients to continue Dr. Jeffrey Leonard's legacy. In an effort to provide a more pleasant patient experience with updated orthodontic technology, our North Andover office was expanded and completely renovated in 2011.

Services
I love being an orthodontist. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, and the friendships that I've built with my patients and their families are one in a million. It has always been my focus to make each patient feel at-home when they come to me for treatment and I work hard to give my patients the attention they deserve.
Your first visit to our office will be a free exam for you or your child. The doctor will carefully examine the teeth for a wide range of possible orthodontic problems, such as crowding, cross-bite, gaps, etc. Once the doctor has a clear picture of the most likely course of treatment, we'll discuss what type of treatment is necessary, how long it will take, and estimate how much it will cost.
The cost of your orthodontic treatment may vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. During your visit, we'll discuss with you the cost of your treatment, and each of your available payment plan options, so that you are able to make the best choice for you and your smile. We will work with you to create a payment plan that fits your budget and you will know what to expect before beginning treatment.
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
Now that you have your braces, how do you take care of them? It's important for you to know how to properly take care of your braces throughout your entire orthodontic treatment. Don't worry, you'll be eating popcorn and snacking on potato chips again in no time! However, before you can start enjoying some of the treats you love, you will need to take special care to avoid any foods that could damage your new appliances.

Came in here thinking I would get the same treatment when Dr. Leonard was alive and running this site. Unfortunately, I was very wrong. I called to make an appointment in order to replace a retainer that I lost a year ago in a house fire. When I called, the receptionist that responded told me the price. I asked if I was going to have to wait a week like last time I got a replacement. She said no and that retainers are made within the same day of the appointment. I said okay and agreed to an appointment date and time.
The day comes of the appointment, and everything is going as how I remembered

I'm in my late forties and decided to straighten a few of my top teeth which has gotten worse over the last few years. After meeting with a couple of orthodontists locally where I live and near my work in the Boston area, I decided to go with Dr. Leonard, Jr in Andover for many reasons why. One of which, they have been around for many years.
When I first met him, I told him that I was on a tight budget and he said he could straighten my front teeth with a retainer. He didn't push for braces and said he could work within my budget. He was extremely nice as well as the office staff. I
