Notaviva Vineyards
Welcome to Notaviva Farm Brewery & Winery, one of the highest rated farm winery and brewery combinations in Northern VA! Founded as Notaviva Vineyards in 2008, and expanded to include Notaviva Brewing in 2019, we are the world's most original brewery & winery brand. Each of our beverages is paired with a musical genre or lyrical inspiration.

Our goal in the founding of our business is to capture the feelings that music can create and put it in our beers, wines, ciders and hard seltzers. Learn more about the origins of the word Notaviva here. We are located on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge mountains near the Appalachian Trail in beautiful western Loudoun County, Virginia, just a short drive from our county seat Leesburg.
Services
To these ends we strive to source the best winegrapes possible, going to great lengths in our vineyard to ensure our viticultural practices deliver on the promise of our terroir while maintaining varietal nuances. We do not endeavor to create homogenous vintages, but rather allow the subtleties of each growing season to be captured in the bottle.
Let your mind drift to a small club in Paris in the mid-1900s, and imagine you're enjoying this hard cider with brie topped with fresh fruit, listening to a swing trio while dancing the night away. Best paired with Gypsy Jazz.

Like a slow dance with the one you love, drifting around the floor after closing time in the general store, our spiced apple hard cider evokes visions of small towns, crisp fall evenings, and the sound of two hearts beating as one.Best paired with Americana love songs. Like the musical genre that inspired it-slightly out of the mainstream, post-punk, and pre-alternative-this hard cider is edgier with more attitude.
Notaviva was founded on the principal that the enjoyment of any beverage (wine, beer, cider, seltzer) may be heightened by pairing your drinking experience with musical selections that complement your beverage. Although we created our brand identity based on our inherent belief in this principle, we have long since found significant educational research on the topic, many of which can be found on our site here.
Our beers are available as flights of four, or as 16oz pint pours. Flights can be mixed-and-matched with wines, ciders and seltzers and you're welcome to try one of each! We currently offer our beers in our branded 64oz growlers (or we'll fill yours) or 4-packs of 16oz cans, which can be mixed-and-matched with different styles of beers, as well as ciders and seltzers.
Backstage - the mysterious hidden realm of producers, designers, and technicians, the people who bring an experience to life. Whether it be a fine wine or a live music festival, the amount of passionate behind-the-scenes effort by the production crew required to craft a superb product or experience is so often underestimated and misunderstood.

Not a lot of places where you have the choice of beer, wine, or hard ciders all made on-premises. Notaviva delivers that on a lovely piece of property. There is parking on either side of the property. We parked on the lower lot and walked up the hill. The mallard drake paid no mind to my wife who was explaining to him that the lady of his desire had NO interest and he should leave her alone. As we left them to their barnyard pursuits, we made it up the hill to be greeted by the hosts. The first lady working with us was only in the middle of her second day and was unable to answer some of my wife

We loved the music themed wines! It was such a fun experience tasting the various flights that you can combine yourself. We chose to do a flight of white, and a flight of red. Everything was outdoors and the tables are spaced out nicely, but we noticed that when some customers came up to order their wines they were not made to wear a mask. The tables were also not cleaned or sanitized in between customers getting up to leave for the day.

Overall, we really enjoyed the property, a few of the wines, and the hospitality of the hostess Sunshine!

Had a great time at this winery. They have a great selection of wine, beer, and a few ciders and seltzers. The best part is, you can make your own flight and mix and match any of the drinks they offer. Everyone stayed outside the building, but there were plenty of seating areas and all nicely spaced apart. They had music playing from a stereo all afternoon and that really added to the vibe of the place.

(This review is delayed by several months, so who knows, maybe the staff have changed by then.) But like others who left reviews here, I found the staff member who did our tasting (a middle-aged white woman, don't remember her name) to be really unfriendly. Went on and on about the owner, but then got irritated at me and another patron when we politely said no thank you to the whites (she literally snapped "you don't have to drink it!") I'm trying to save you wine, woman! Why would I have you pour, only to dump it. Whites give me a bad headache, it's nothing personal

The Viognier is excellent, there are two varieties. One of the owners was the host and she was great.

My sister and I went on a wine tour in the area and ended up staying here. The owners and the staff were warm and welcoming, the wines and ciders were DELICIOUS. The property is scenic, beautiful, and peaceful. Highly recommend making a trip here.

This is a pretty cool family owned vineyard in Loudoun County with a pretty cool couple of music lovers who worked in the industry prior to starting Notaviva.

It's a bit hard to get to, a rocky road off the beaten path/main drag but it's worth a little drive. The tasting boasted 9 wines I believe, each associated a song. My fav? "Back that Glass Up". They do a good job of not only incorporating their love of music with the wines but also their Pennsylvania heritage. It's a pretty cool, quaint stop in Loudoun's wine country. Pro tip: they allow outside food, inside

Notaviva Vineyards is a cool little winery. The tasting room is part of the owners house. So on weekends - you are in part of their house.

Very impressive architecture!

I enjoyed most of the wines I tasted, particularly the Reds. I especially enjoyed their Petit Verdot.

The winey is also doing something cool with technology. Using an iOS app on one's iPhone - you can scan the label on select wines - and the app then brings up information about the wine, as well as a piece of music associated with that wine that you can play. I believe the app is leveraging Apple's AR Kit (augmented

I have nothing bad to say about my experience at Notaviva. My friend visiting from out of town and I selected this vineyard off of a map of all northern VA vineyards given to me. Although smaller than most others I've been too, the service was great and very friendly. We got there shortly after opening on a Saturday so there were only a couple other people there. Personally I loved just about everything single wine that was given during the tasting. Obviously everyone has different palettes when it comes to wine, but I had a hard time choosing one bottle to take home. Definitely worth a try

Notaviva is really unique, even by the eclectic standards of the VA wine industry. Their niche is to pair wine with music; every wine is supposed to go with a certain musical genre, or a kind of day. It sounds odd, but the owners love it. And who am I to argue with a couple who were smart enough to open a winery despite not having a background in viticulture? Heck, they even wrote a book called "Dream Build Believe"!

The tasting room doubles as the owner's home; the tasting bar is their kitchen, upstairs they have music stage (one of the owners was a roadie for Bon Jovi), and downstairs

So, several years ago we watched the series of HGTV's show that highlighted the building of this tasting room, as well as how they went about learning and building the vineyard. We have waited a few years to finally give them a try, hoping their vines and wines would have matured by now.

We visited on a Saturday in July, when it is normally busy for Northern VA wineries and they have several groups, but were still able to comfortably accommodate us at the tasting bar. The lovely lady who gave us our tasting was very friendly and happy to fill us in on the venue and the wines they offered

We brought a large group to the winery. We made arrangements in advance. We chose this particular winery because none of us had ever been there and we were allowed to bring in outside food - and if you've ever seen girls pack food to pair with wine at a winery - it's insane!

We arrived and learned that we were literally in the winemaker's home - where his family makes their breakfast and they sleep downstairs! The house was featured on HGTV back in the day.

The wines are all paired with music vs food - although there is no music playing. Pairing it with music is a unique concept

I LOOOOOOVE THIS WINERY!!!!

I was brought here by a friend on a little winery tour of VA wine country. I think the reason why I love it so much is because of their fun musician wine labels. Since I have a masters in music, that qualifies me to totally nerd out on all of their wines.

I just want to collect all the bottles!! :-)

Pretentious much?
Beautiful setting, beautiful tasting room. Pretentious over priced wines, staff that would rather be busy talking in the kitchen area than interacting with customers. 'this wine should be enjoyed while listening to fast paced gypsy music' Please!
Much talk about the owner who toured with second rate bands, the energy spent should be better focused into interacting with the guests.
Completely opposite to Cardamon & Two Twisted Posts just two miles away.

Notaviva is a very pretty winery slightly off the beaten path in Purceville VA. Their story is fascinating to me, and contrary to what some other yelpers have mentioned, the couple of times I have been there that Steve and Shannon were around, I found them to both be quite welcoming and charming. Their house is gorgeous, and I completely understand why it was featured on HGTV! I also love the idea that their wine is paired with music. It fits. Of course pairing wine with food is more common, but isn't it nice to experience something completely different?

I also really like their wine
