Downtown Garage is family-owned and operated by Steve and Brenda Clark. The couple opened the shop in November of 2000, with the goal of giving Charlevoix drivers an honest and reliable option for auto repair and vehicle maintenance. We like being an independent auto repair shop, able to make our own rules and deliver a level of service you won't find at the dealerships and franchise auto service centers.
At Downtown Garage in Charlevoix, we're experts at everything under the hood and under your car, including auto A/C repair, wheel alignments, brake repair, suspension repair, auto diagnostics, oil changes, and exhaust work. We even have the exhaust equipment for sizing and bending pipe. Whatever you need, our automotive services are focused on helping you get the most from your vehicle, now and into the future.
Unless your vehicle requires premium gasoline, filling up your vehicle with high-octane gas is a waste of money. The premium gas doesn't boost your gas mileage or performance. If you're not sure what grade works best for your vehicle, your owner's manual will tell you. You can also ask your mechanic what grade to use.

These guys have always been kind and professional. When I needed new suspension and all new front end work done they were straight up about what needed to be done. Jeep parts are expensive so they told me what needed replaced immediately and priced that, then gave me details on what could wait and when it needed to be done. They were spot on with that info too. Overall great mechanics who do their job honestly and make sure to double check. I get all my work done here, including maintenance and oil changes.

Upon driving up you're greater by a sign:. The Honest Mechanic". I agree. Nice people. Open, candid, knowledgeable, get right on it and get it done. What had done the price was reasonable. Don't worry about the look of the place the people inside make the difference. I will be back when I need help.
