Services
Most credit unions are the result of an unfulfilled need for service. Suspicion and distrust also entered the initial picture that eventually evolved into our JACom Credit Union. Our story goes back to 1941. The attack on Pearl Harbor turned public opinion against all Japanese living in the United States, even against the Nisei (American born Japanese).
Service is what we are about. JACOM Credit Union offers all the products you expect from a financial institution. However, as a not-for-profit organization owned by our members earnings are returned to you in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates, and no or low fee products and services.

Also unlike many of the profit-driven financial institutions who have reduced standards of service to control their operating costs, your Credit Union continues to offer a high standard of professional, personalized service.The benefits of being a member go far beyond just obtaining a loan or having a savings account.
Credit unions are non-profit financial cooperatives. By their nature, credit unions are not open to the general public. Members are united by a common bond of association and democratically operate the credit union under state or federal regulations. JACOM Credit Union is governed by twelve member-elected volunteers serving on the Board of Directors and three member-elected volunteers serving on the Supervisory Committee.

The "heart" of the Credit Union. The members of our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee all contribute their time without pay. Our founders and others who have followed have benefited our members by setting competitive rates paid on deposits and interest rates charged on a variety of loan products.

Not the friendliest of people, make you fill out forms outside, but quick and convenient when your bank isn’t near by, also the security guard was leaning on his car texting when I first pulled in

Been a shared branch customer here for 3 years but today was denied service because of a "new policy". The worker claimed it's been in place for two years.... When I visited the bank a couple months ago. Never coming back, racism is the new game they play.

I had to stop by to take care of some paperwork. I have had family members who have been with the JACU for decades. It was a local community credit union that was created when the Crenshaw area was highly populated by JA's and their businesses. My experience was very positive I knew what I wanted to be done and they knew how to do it. They even provide a clear proactive sign so there is clarity to what they can provide. A sign that any civilized literate person with a ounce of comprehension can understand. The first 3 lines says it all. I read it I understood it and proceeded to complete my task

Very backwards and not inclusive at all. If you are a member of a partner bank, first, read their aggressive welcome message to you pictured here. Second, they will not do any transaction with you if you do not present your information (such as ID) in a way that reflects your original credit union, i.e. address being different, middle name, etc.

It's common knowledge that the customer service is exceptionally great, however, as a member if you are fortunate to meet with the loan committee, you would be impressed with the professional and courteous care in which you will find the complete opposite of other financial institutions. They made me feel welcome and on equal standing, not defensive and intimidated like traditional finance institutions.

The rental cop they have at the door is really rude and disrespectful. I needed to make a payment and he was letting everyone inside except me. I was waiting a long time and he kept telling me they were all members and he kept laughing and shutting the door in my face. I just needed to make a payment and finish my errands but could not cuz he wanted to be unprofessional. Worst bank. Make the drive and go somewhere else. Another badge abusing power, doesn't suprise me.

You are better off going to another Credit Union or ATM if you are with a co-op credit union. This is the 2nd time I have been there and the 2nd time I was not able to withdraw or deposit my money due to a crazy reason which even my credit union found odd. Last time going here, over it.

I actually love this place the people are super nice, knowledgeable and friendly.They are the reason I keep going back. My only real complaint is their hours on google are often wrong. They don't update for special hours or training days, weird for a bank. Also the security guard is alway unbelievably rude.

First, this credit union is very old and outdated. It looks like a messy hoarders hide away. Second, the woman who sits to the left side helping with loans, is so rude! She never smiles, never greets patrons and has a mean look on her face at all times. She speaks to the patrons disrespectfully, I don't know why she is in the customer service industry when she obviously has no clue what that entails. She is hurting your business. Lastly, if you bring in a ten dollar bill and want to exchange it for a roll of quarters, they charge you a fee per roll! I've never heard of a bank nor credit

So they refused to take a check because "people" have been scamming them. I came with a check that i wrote mobile banking on the back but never scanned, showing them the check exceeded the limit for my bank and they still refused to accept even after showing them the app wasn't able to accept because the check was too large. Not only that the wait outside is ridiculous. The bank was empty one person working and two others chilling at their desk. If this is what shared banking is about i will never return to another ew.

Car loan starts from 1.9% APR! Can't beat that.
Staff are nice, too.

Only con would be outdated online system. The website is kind of hard to navigate as well.

This was a nice surprise to find a credit union co-op service center closer to me. I have driven down this street many times and have NEVER seen the Japanese credit union. It sits back away from the street. In the parking lot there is a guard at the door, and the bank will have to buzz you in.

When I arrived on a Friday, there were 3 female tellers and a man who appeared to be a bank manager. There was absolutely no one inside. I stood there for a bit, a bit too long without an acknowledgement. Just all 3 with heads down doing some sort of work. No hello, be right with you was extended

A few years ago I was able to get an investment loan here when I couldn't at any of the bigger banks. I'm so glad I found this place and have been able to be a customer over the past few years. Everyone that works there is very friendly, especially Christine who is my primary contact. I would very highly recommend this credit union to anyone looking to get a loan or just work with a very friendly credit union!

I've been a member since the 1980's. I bought my first car at JACOM with very favorable rates. Much better service than your local bank. Nice people too.

My friends have been telling me about this credit union for a while but I never got around to opening an account. Last month I became a member because they had a great promotion on auto loans. Saving money on an auto loan is pretty nice, but the entire staff is very nice as well. I'm glad my friends introduced me. I'm a happy customer.

I've been a member here over 30 years. Very professional, efficient, and helpful staff. I do not dread calling the office because I know that a real and courteous person will answer the phone and solve the problem or answer the question immediately. They have affordable dental and vision coverage as well as discount tickets to attractions in Southern California. Great service - thanks, JACOM!
