Services
Established in 2006 based on Italian espresso basics, Bluff City Coffee continues to provide high quality espresso beverages. There's no brewed coffee, just espresso-based drinks. The difference lies in the way the coffee is made. An espresso shot is brewed by forcing very hot water under high pressure through coffee that has been finely ground.
Coming back from boarded up and dark and deserted. This district grew up in the hustle and bustle of the boom era of the train stations - Union Station and Central Station. Most of the South Main buildings were built between 1910 and 1920. The area's businesses catered to the railroad passengers and employees - hotels, bars, restaurants and other small businesses.
While Memphis boasts a wide variety of historic neighborhoods, Cooper Young is its own impressive entity. Vibrant, eclectic, and wholly unique, the neighborhood is named for the intersection of Cooper Street and Young Avenue and was founded in 1899. Radiating outward from this intersection, you will find a diverse collection of local businesses, century-old homes, and art installations.
Bluff City Coffee uses a combination of coffee beans from Central America, Indonesia and South American to provide a very complex coffee flavor. The Central American beans add a hint of chocolate while the South American beans bring out a thicker peanut butter flavor. The correct roasting of this variety of beans provides a darker hearty blend that is appreciated by our customers.
Bluff City Coffee offers a wide variety of high quality Italian style espresso beverages. There's no brewed coffee, just espresso here, and we prefer it that way. By adhering strictly to espresso-only preparation, we are able to ensure that your coffee is fresh every time, rather than stale from sitting in a pre-brewed pot for too long.

5 star pastries! Considered taking away a star only because the dine in area needs a face lift to give that inviting feeling like so many coffee shops in town. Ultimately the awesome food trumped the lackluster aesthetic for me. The homemade "pop tart" is incredible. The most tender pastry and a very generous portion of a sweet thick raspberry filling and then there's that perfect glaze with sprinkles on top. The blueberry muffin is a big one and is FULL of blueberries and oh so fresh. Tried the foccacia dough filled with sun dried tomato and feta. Would like it to have

Came in to have a work lunch. They were like we don't have lunch today. Breakfast items worked for me. But then she was like WE HAVE A 30 MINUTE MAX for dining here and you can't use our wifi, we don't have wifi. First of all ma'am, I had my own MIFI internet with me. When I told her that I was meeting the coworker there and wasn't sure when they would be arriving. She said "Sorry". Implying that also the clock was ticking as soon as I sat down. Wow. I've tried to give this place a chance over the years. But::...Also, I called ahead to ask these questions

Brunch with friends. Good spot. The breakfast sandwich on biscuit is a feast. Turkey sausage double patty, plenty of cheese & the biscuit is dense but not doughy. The raspberry poptart us delish. If you like pie crust you will enjoy. Plenty of filling. My wife got the Nutella one, but I like mine better. Friendly staff. Courteous. Be patient, they take a bit to get you your order. Busy, but good. Three tables on outside patio.

The absolute worst coffee... we were on our way to Vice and Virtue and noticed Bluff City and decided to try since we'd never been. Huge mistake. I don't agree with paying $6 for a small latte PERIOD, but especially not for really horrible lattes. My husband got the iced Haley's comet and I got some honey/cinnamon whatever hot latte that's one of their specials... I tried to finish them, but only got a few sips in to both, involuntarily making faces and gagging between, before dumping them. Really tried not to since we spent so dang much on them!

This place barely has indoor seating currently, what they have is not too pleasant to sit in because it's so close to the line of people waiting to order. Their outdoor seating is pretty nice but there's only three tables.
Tomato feta croissant - not a croissant, more like a bread roll. It was definitely not a pastry item. It tasted okay. Not enough sundried tomatos, mostly cheese.
Sprinkle cookie - this one hit the spot for me! I love the aesthetic and it was a crumbly cookie.
Coffee - pretty good. I originally thought it was going to be drip coffee, but I dont think they do those

My husband and I are visiting Memphis for a few days and have been in search of good/great coffee every morning. I made the mistake of getting it from the restaurant (Bishop) in our hotel (The Central Station) on the first morning. It tasted a lot like hospital coffee. Not really drinkable, but I always say that bad coffee is better than no coffee. Day 2 I went to Hustle & Dough. It was very good; however, they have extremely limited options there. They didn't even have soy milk. Day 3 I ventured into Bluff City Coffee...this is the place. The options were tremendous, the service was

Bluff City Coffee is a jewel and I just cannot wait to go back. Menu, location, staff and ambiance are all the reasons why I enjoy this place. I could not believe how absolutely fantastic Macchiato was. It was perfectly prepared. The team members ensured I was helped and answered all my questions very politely and swiftly. I will definitely come back to Bluff City Coffee.

I live in the south bluffs area and used to really like this coffee shop.. The smoothies are solid and the breakfast sandwiches are pretty good.. The staff in the past was very very pleasant, but today twice the phone was answered by a very unpleasant gentleman.. I would recommend that they not let him be the front of the operation any longer

Just moved to Memphis and in search of the best cold brew in Midtown. There’s no shortage of options here. Bluff City Coffee’s cold brew is just right- rich in flavor, low acidity, with a strong, smooth coffee taste. Will be back for more.
The tex mex bagel sandwich was just alright, I did not enjoy the bagel texture too much, it was much closer to plain bread texture but take this with a grain of salt because my expectations for bagels are too high outside of NYC. Taste was fine.

We loveeee to try local coffee shops when we travel so we were excited to see this one just around the corner from our condo.. but sad to discover the coffee was not our favorite.
Both of our drinks were very bitter and had a really strange sweet after taste - neither of us had more than 2-3 sips before they went in the trash..
They had tons of baked goods that looked really good, and the girl working the counter was very nice- the espresso just wasn't to our taste.

Came here to grab some coffee and a cookie with my wife before heading to the zoo with our sons. She got an iced vanilla latte, I got an Americano, and we got a Strawberry Gooey Cookie. We hardly got to Cooper/Union before she finished her latte and said “That was incredible.” My Americano was great and the cookie was out of this world!

Super friendly staff and clean, welcoming seating area, both inside and out. I got the cream cheese roll (basically a cinnamon roll) and was delighted by the first bites. Nicely flavored and icing not too sweet. Alas, as I got to the center is the roll, the cinnamon spread mixed with raw batter, and I could hear Paul Hollywood saying "That's undercooked." Such a shame.
I will go back, though, because the cherry cheese danish I saved for later was delicious! More biscuit than light pastry, the flavors were sharp and fresh.

Haven't been here for a few years. I grew disgusted with seeing flies in the pastry case at every visit. So...two years later I hoped things would grow finer with time. Unfortunately my first stop upon arrival was the restroom; but one was out of commission. The functioning facility was missing towels and the mismatched seat seemed to illustrate the lack of attention to details I had noted years previous. After emerging with still wet hands, I noticed the well stocked bakery case was both appetizing and fly-free. Though tempted, it would require a few more visits before ordering a
